Today, i am gonna give to my grandaughter Janis her first big game rifle for her 16th annyversary... Pretty accurate little rig that did not break the bank and will serve her for many years...
It took 5 rounds to zero the rifle, then i backed 2 targets at 200 yards, it took 2 more rounds to zero at 200 yards... Then i proceded at this 5 shots group for the final, not benchrest accurate but it will make a wicked little deer hunting rig in Ontario, Quebec and Pennsylvannia....
Rifle is a Wheaterby S2 carbine in 308...
Scope is a Burris Fullfield ll 3X9...
Weaver med rings...
Weaver Bases...
5 boxes of factory Nosler 165 gr Accubonds with it ( the ammo used to zero the rifle)... Happy birthday Janis... JP.

I usually find your posts full of self entitlement and arrogance, but that's actually a nice little setup. I would say .308 might be a little heavy for a 16 year old girl (unless of course she's big boned) but with the weight of the s2 it's probably fairly mild.

If you really want to steer a youngster in the right direction , a 308 ( she a proven shot with a 308) is the way to go because, she will start with it and may hunt all her life with it...
PS: Arrogance and self entitelment is not part of who i am... It is more my french reality apply to an 100% English world dont really render justice to what i am saying...
Not your fault guys but surfing in my non native language ought to create some ambiguity... Reasons are no excuses but it is one way i could explain some frictions between us... JP.

Good stuff JP and a good choice for that little gal.
My new S2 should be here tomorrow, its replacing an empty space formerly belonging to a Grandson's rifle..

When she gets tired of it.. you should buy her something a little more refined.. and please donate that s2 to me when you don't know what else to do with it. :)

Wow, good point! He actually did write some English! (maybe he took his meds)

I just look over the Looky posts now as you can see because most don't make any sense and are a waste of time. They stopped being funny back in 2009.

But hey, whatever floats your boat ;)

I have another grandboy, that will be 18 in November, he is hunting grouse with an old El Faisan 410 i gave to him a few years back... Did trade some boat equipments for a slightly used 20 gauge Browning Citori... He to will be very happy as birds hunting is a passion for him, cant wait to give it to him... JP.

Thats awesome JP. I have a few jems that I'm saving for some of my nephews for when they are older. I'm hoping one day they will appreciate them whether they are moa shooters or not.

People grunt and groan at the number of firearms that I've collected, but they grunt and groan even more when I tell them they are not all for me. I have six children. Who knows how many grandchildren I will end up having? I think it is highly appropriate to leave a wonderful legacy behind with posterity in the form of firearms. Teach them how to use them, pass them down, and your legacy and legend has an interesting way of perpetuating on when you are dead in the ground. I think firearms are perfect gifts for those that are licenced. JP has a big heart and I am sure that his grandchildren will appreciate it.

Shooting and hunting is a way of life in our family, everyones ( except my grandson Ray, 23 years old, he is a passionate fisherman, we live together partime in my old Quebec house) are shooting and either way i will get them the firearms they need for that... At the end, i think my pleasure is bigger than theirs, and it is a privilege being able to help them out.... Family is the real wealth... JP.
