Shorten PAL Approval Times

219 days and counting. It's "under review." Called and asked for an ETA - "How much longer is this going to take? Months, maybe a year?" Their response was simply "Yes."

I don't even intend on buying a firearm, I just needed RPAL for an employment opportunity which has since been lost due to the length delay :(

I wish I could take 5 months to do a little paper work and make 2-3 phone calls, but I dont have a government job I actually work for my money

If your in B.C call the CFC, ask for the provincial CFO. They will try to tell you no in a indirect way, keep insisting to talk to them politely. I got through last week after 40 min of being transfered and told they could not do anything.... Once I got through..... She approved my RPAL and PAL :) on day 60. Not to bad....

For reference:

Mine was received on August 14th

Issued on October 2nd

Almost 45 days like they say but I had to call in to speak with the CFO office to move it along. I called the CFO office 2 weeks earlier and they said it's with the the person doing the background check and to call back in 2 weeks, I did so (had to call a bunch of times before I got through to the guy) but once I spoke to him it was issued immediately.

Thanks

I'll try and call them today

At first I thought the CFO is on vacations. Since you can get through to the CFO I guess they are working

I got the name of the the guy doing my background check in the CFO office when they transferred me the first time (he said it in his answering machine message). Then when I called next day and said that "I got the answering machine last time can you transfer me to so and so" they just gave me the guys extension. At which point I called repeatedly until I got through.

I bet if I didn't, I would be waiting another 45 days easy.

my application has been with them for 3 weeks now, and has yet to appear on-line, called them a few times but keep getting the same answer "it hasn't been entered into the system yet, we are very backed up right now, call us again in 3 weeks......."
