Best new .22 handgun?

You should obscure or edit the serial number before posting. Just a word of advice.

If you look carefully just ahead of the ejection port you'll note a symbol with 13 beside it.
Care to guess why it's a pretty good indicator that gun isn't in Canada?
Just a word of education.

If you want to build a bullseye pistol in the future (other than a plinker), I would look elsewhere than the GSG or Sig Mosquito (same factory, bigger price). The shear volume of accessories for the Ruger MK3s make them customizable so you can upgrade it as your needs change. Check out the Volquartsen website and get an idea what you can do in the future if you chose to.

My MK2 was great, felt stupid for selling it. I bought a MK3 (competition target), didn't like it out of the box, but added the Sam Lam bushing, the VQ target sear and polished a few other items and now its the best pistol I could hope for (in my budget) and -without question- will last many lifetimes. I don't think there are too many GSG owners contemplating handing them down to their kids, but I may be wrong. My father gave me his Gen2 Colt Woodsman, and it is a brilliant shooter, I would say that my MK3 is every bit as good (although the Woodsman is lighter).

If you are going to get a GSG, buy a used one. They seem to show up periodically on the EE and Epps, certainly more so than the MK2/3s. It is a wonderful feeling to use a 1 inch black sticky dot on a target and put at least 6 of 10 into it at 35ft (and the other ones are not far off), knowing that it is your fault the other 4 are not in the dot! With my sig I would be lucky to have 1 in that dot.

All of that said, a revolver is a great idea.... no hot brass flying around to get down your shirt, or to have to sweep up.

IMO, blah blah blah.

I've been looking at a gsg. Should I get one with a silencer or extra mag?

The silencer is a prop. No actual function to it. That package does include the gsg with a rail, though. So you might want to go that way for the tacticool factor. You did mention a laser in your original post after all. You can also get the railed version without the fake surpressor. All the different version have the threaded barrel to be able to screw on a fake silencer - so you could probably pick one up later if you don't get one now.

Hope this is in place within the overall context of this thread:

Where's the best place to find a new Ruger MKII/MKIII? This seem to come and go in waves.

Love my S&W 617 ss. Great accuracy, eats any ammo, a whiz to clean. A bit pricey for a .22, but you will only need to buy one. The S&W MP .22 feels like a toy in hand, not bad for accuracy, but,,,,
Just my two cents,,,

There's a Mk II for $300 on the EE right now. They are no longer made so new you' be looking for a MKIII.

Don't overlook the Ruger Mk. 1. If it's accuracy you want, here it is:

Keep an eye out at gunstores, and online dealers. You can find these in the $300 range. Mine has a great trigger, breaks around 2.5 lbs.
