Pistol caliber carbines?

I'm interested in getting a pistol caliber carbine (preferably 9mm to keep ammo costs down) for range/plinking use. I'd really prefer the look of something like the old Marlin camp carbine or Ruger PC models over the more "tactical" looking guns like JR or Kel-Tec. Is anyone making anything like that these days? I searched the EE back 3 years for both the Ruger or Marlin but got no hits so I'm guessing they were never common here.
 
I think the closest thing you`ll find to what you want is the Chiappa M1-9 carbine.The rifle is a clone of the M1 Carbine ,but shoots 9mm Luger instead of .30 cal Carbine., comes with a 10 round magazine in either wood stock or black synthetic.I myself have the wood stock and love this little gun, nice and light and easy to handle and have not had any problems with it as yet ,although some folks have had a few hiccups with thiers, but I love mine.I want to get a .30 Carbine next made by Auto Ordnance.

The Ruger PC in 9mm was restricted because of is shorter barrel.I don`t ever remember seeing them here ,but a nice little carbine for sure.

There`s always the "ranch hand" type levers (Mares legs) but those are usually in .357 ,44 mag and 45 lc ,also a few carbine length levers with 16 ish long barrels ,but again in the mentioned calibers.

There may be others that fit the bill ,but perhaps others may help.

I just now finally, after many many years of searching for a Ruger 99/44 Deerfield carbine, have one. I've only fired one shot with it so far and I can tell it's going to be one of my favorite rifles especially if it groups decently at 100 yards.

I love lever guns in handgun calibers...357 and 44 mag wake up quite a bit when shot from a rifle barrel. 9mm carbines are fun too, though I don't see 9mm gaining as much performance.
There's the CX4 non-restricted but that's more tactical, sadly.
 
Lucky bugger two-dogs, I`ve always wanted a Deerfield myself !!!

Whenever I want a good shakeup ,I break out my Rossi .454 Casull ,fun to shoot but expensive, although it shoots .45 LC very well and cheaper.

I also love pistol caliber carbines... specifically in .44RM... I have Win 94's, Marlin 1894's, Henry Big Boy's and Ruger 77/44's... love em!
 
Beretta CX Storm, thye come in 9mm,.40, and,.45 iirc.
Elwood Epps has a few non-Restricted guns for sale as does ATR as well.
Fun guns to shoot and easy to clean and can be switched to leftie or rightie in a couple of minutes.

MY LGS has a CX4 (restricted length barrel) for 895 that I've been eyeing but I'm not sure that 1. I wouldn't rather have the flexibility from a NR and 2. I really prefer the "less tactical", M1 carbine look. The problem for me with the NR CX4 is price. 1099 plus (for me) 13% HST is getting pretty pricey for what is basicly a toy.

I've looked at the Chiappa's online but reading lots of negative comments about the brand's QC has made me a bit leery.

So that`s all there is to it ? So the round is chambered and it leaves the barrel /muzzle without any spin(does not appear to have any rifling) and without touching the shotgun barrel ?

I mean ,at the distance the fellow is shooting ,he is indeed hitting the target, just very curious how accurate that thing can really be.

I agree that what the OP is looking for is probably a Chiappa M-1 in 9mm.

I would suggest shopping around as some retailers are price-gouging, however.

You know the difference between men and boys is the price of their toys ;)
They do have a slot to fill in the gun safe and out in the field and being able to brag about that is just one reason.
Sometimes it just makes sense to stick with the 10-22 or CZ 452 as well.

Nothing remotely "tactical" about any of 'em, except the M1 Carbine was/is as "tactical" as you could/can get.
Camp Carbines are restricted due to barrel length, as I recall.
Rugers have been out of production since 1985. Deerfields since 2006. Had some kind of issue too. Forget what it was. Mags not working reliably I think.
Kel-Tecs have a poor reputation for reliability, Stateside.

Seriously though, This would just be a toy and given some other aquisitions I have in mind the budget is probably 600 or less. That would seem to mean it comes down to the Chiappa M1 or the Kel-Tec Sub 2000. Anything (other than looks) to choose between them?

That's a fairly sizeable target and he is pretty darn close to it.

There are more videos on youtube that demonstrate these smoothbore adapters in slow motion.

Without the rifling to induce spin, most if not all pistol bullets are keyholing when they strike the target.
