New to shotguns Have a Maverick 88 cant load more than 2 shells

I will assume you mean into the magazine .your 88 has a plug in the magazine to limit the gun to 3 rounds as that is all you are allowed if you were to use the gun for hunting waterfowl .1 in the chamber and 2 in the mag .read your manual it will explain how to remove the magazine plug .

Rack the slide half way, loosen barrel nut, remove barrel, hold gun "muzzle" end down, shake till wooden dowel comes out, re-install barrel, tighten barrel nut finger tight and walla... Done.

:runaway:
Every new (to you) firearm, always read the instructions. Although Mossy instructions suck balls, it still explains the wooden piece.

Hopefully you won't get too razzed for this one. Happy shooting.

Not sure why exactly everyone seems to think the three round restriction applies only to waterfowl. IT APPLIES TO ALL HUNTING.

It varies from province to province, but since I don't know BC's game laws I will give you my personal experience as a piece of advice. Leaving the plug in will save you an awkward and expensive conversation with the local Conservation Officers, I know we don't have the same abundance of game here in New Brunswick as else where but I have never failed to capitalize on opportunities at because I only had 3 shells or less in my gun that 3 shells or more would have gotten me.

^^^ this. Hunting with multiple projectile cartridges is the only time the rule is implemented. . Hunting with Slugs is not effected. Target shooting with multiple projectile cartridges is not effected.

For some reason I always seem to forget that this is Canadian Gun Nutz, and not Ontario Gun Nutz, lol! In Ontario, the three shot law applies to all hunting with a shotgun.

Yup. Even if you're hunting deer with slugs, you are limited to 2+1 in a shotgun.

That's despite the fact that you can legally hunt deer with a lever-action rifle with ten (or more) rounds in it.
Weird laws indeed.

Yes, when I go clay shooting I always feel that I want/should remove the plug out of my pump. But then i get nervous that I could forget it and go dogging through
the bush for deer without the plug, so I always just end up leaving the plug in. Many ranges your not allowed to have anymore then 2 rounds in the gun at anytime, and never one in the chamber if your not shooting.

I shoot clays on private property, so that doesnt apply to me.
