If you are into collecting SKS or any firearms.....more power to you. Russian sks are available as refurb/non refurb. from 1949 to the LETTER GUNSof 1956/7/8 (depending who is talking)
we are really lucky to have the top dealers imho here in B.C
I bought my refurbs.(Letter guns) to shoot and a refurb. is as close to a new(SKS) one as possible. like a year old car that has all the squeeks and such found and fixed...I have hardwood stocked/laminated stocked models...... I take them apart,cleaning and oiling....its a hobbie for me
I have collector grade RUGERS,that is until I got them....now they get shot on a regular basis.....collect all the SKS you want....they will probably get outlawed long before they get anywhere near American prices of $500 to$1000plus.for nothing as nice as our SKS Russians. then we will all be collecting single shot COOEYS,,, So get an SKS,Some surplus ammo,get 1440rounds and split the cost with a friend or 2 or 3 and have fun shooting probably the best bargain the shooting world has ever seen........again,its just an old guys personal opinion Eh !!!H:S:

My brother picked up a cheap Russian refurb from can am. What a fun rifle for the price. I definitely need to pick one up soon. The rifle worked great. It's the perfect gravel pit plinking gun.

I have a collection of firearms as opposed to having a firearms collection. They all get rounds down range, not worth owning unless they get used IMO.
 
I better get cracking ,as I only have 7 (4 Russian, 3 Chinese) and all have been shot except for two ,but I purchased them recently so they may have to wait until spring.

I agree ,load `em up and shoot `em !
