Yet ANOTHER NS522 thread!

FINALLY got mine in today. just enough time to take it out of the bag and quickly inspect it. No issues with the stock or any of the metal so I'm happy. will clean it all up later and see how it functions

it was nice and sunny today so i went and did some shooting!

...it was freezing up there though, i think i can still tighten up the groups some more, pretty confident that my NS522 with RWS rifle match will put them all into one hole at 50m as well, i was very close on one string, but i pulled one of the shots.... :(

i was also very surprised at the performance of the CCI Blazer, im pretty excited to see what the CCI Blazer can do once the rifle is free floated and pillar bedded.

RWS rifle match @ 50m:

Missed the sale, but decided to try one out. The bolt looks to be an Annie/Walther style design. Hammer forged barrel also looks very good. I read that modification thread and decided it would at the least be a fun project.

I have made arrangements to have one brought from the US. I am hoping and praying that this will go without a hitch. If so, I will pass on the coveted information about where to get a new stock for the NS522.

KFS will ship now for $50US, or you can use a sketchy option where you can have it shipped to some fellow in Washington, who will bring it over and then ship it a little bit cheaper....
Bishop stocks are $305, Italian are $205, and there are ones that should fit our bottom metal which are cut at 6 3/4"
Contact Shane at KFS if you want the details or to place an order shane@kfsindustries.com

I'm the sketchy option , as I offered to help out a couple of members who contacted me about the stock I ordered from KFS.
We have a shipping address in Sumas Wa, that we use , I reside in Maple Ridge B.C.All I ask is you cover the cost of border tax
plus shipping cost to your address. If this turns into a big hassle I will back out of helping people.

I was looking for one of these stock. Sent an email to KFS and they gave me your email adress.
I'm interested by an Italian with the 6 3/4" trigger guard cut.

I will send you an email later today...

Not to bum out the parade, but you should probably understand what you can get into driving stocks across the border from the US....

Looks like it just turned into a big hassle! Thank you for the heads up. Ignorance is bliss, I was not aware it covered stocks, but it clearly does.
I will fulfill my one commitment, but will no longer pursue this as it's not worth it , sorry guys.
Will be contacting KFS asap to advise them of this.

Its not a big hassle but at the same time its not that easy...

Take for example Boyds. They will ship to canada, no problem.
They will take care of the exportation.

Most companies don't want to ship up here because they don't want to fill the papers.
In most of the cases they will tell you they can't ship here.

For now they (KFS industries) are not going to send any of those stocks to Canada until they find out what is involved. Obviously they are very new to the export game and have some educating to do. I didn't imagine there would be any issue driving across a wooden part of a gun stock. Not even remotely a working part of the gun. Especially with the $500 ITAR. I am out of ideas to get a stock now. That was the ONLY place I could find after looking high and low. If anyone knows how to get a stock sent over from the USA either by a supplier or by doing your own paperwork feel free to post.

Keng's is the only source for the 522 sporter stock because they were the importers of the barrelled actions, and they stocked them with the Bishop stocks back in the mid 1990s. The only other supplier of a 522 stock that I know of is Don Stith, himself a fan of the 522. Don offers a benchrest stock or two for the 522, but you may run into the same problems getting the stocks into Canada. Sorry that I am of no help.

Yeah I think I emailed him and he doesn't ship to Canada if I remember correctly.

Are you saying that Keng's was the ONLY importer of the NS522 before they were cut off. Because I have heard of others (I suppose Don Stith for one)making the stock so why would they be making a stock that only Keng's was importing (and selling with their own stocks).

Stith is an avid benchrest shooter, and makes stocks for various rifles. He has a NS522 or two, and made a few custom stocks....
KFS had stocks made for the barreled actions because they wanted to sell them as higher end rifles, not budget Chinese rifles with cheap Chu wood stocks...

As I understand it, Keng's was the sole importer. There may have been more than one, but I've never heard about it. US law requires an import mark, and I've never heard of a 522 with another importer's mark (even the Canadian guns are so marked). Keng's is also seen as the go-to source for all things 522 (mags, owner's manuals, etc), and I've never heard anyone recommend another importer. As to stocks, Don Stith is the only one I'm aware of making a 522 stock. As I understand it, Don was a benchrest shooter who also made BR stocks, and he tried and liked the 522 enough to buy a few for his own use, then built a BR stock for one and used it in competition. After that, I suppose other folks wanted one and he started building a few. I've never heard of another stockmaker offering a stock for the 522, though. As for Keng's, they really had no market for their left over stocks in the US, and did not anywhere else until the Canadian rifles arrived on the scene. Suddenly there are a handful of Canadians wanting a better stock for their 522s, and just like that KFS has found a market for a number of stocks they'd been sitting on for some 15-16 years. I hope this helps....

Yes, that was very educational thank you. It explains a few things. If you believe them at Keng's they are in no hurry to get rid of the stocks that they have. And the mags that they are selling for $60 US each are still selling well in the US. I am told that Keng's have a number of barrelled actions which they can't do much with for some reason or they want to hang on to them. I don't see what the issue is with Keng's exporting stocks to Canada since they are obviously familiar with the import/export business. I would think they would be anxious to sell the stocks they have especially at the markup they are capable of. All I want is one nice professionally cut Bishop stock, is that too much to ask?

If Kengs has these stocks in stock, and basically no American market for them, they should consider blowing them out, or selling them to someone like Canada Ammo and getting rid of them while there is some interest in them.
I'd be interested in one at a bargain price, but there's no way I'd be interested in spending as much on a stock, as I paid for the entire rifle.
