So the other day i was in the hunting store (jobrooks) in Brandon Manitoba and ended up walking out with a CZ527 Varmint with a 24" barrel. Put a Nikon Prostaff 5 3.5-14x50 on it, Bought some 32gr Hornady and sighted it in. What a sweet rifle.

So alot of my friends are telling me.. RL10x with 32 and 39gr blitz kings. I do have 100 32gr blitzkings ready to go. Been looking alot online and powders to you and seems alot of success with RL10x, H322, IMR/H 4895 and Benchmark. Note this will be used to coyotes so 40 or 39gr bullets would be a good choice aswell but the 40 seem hard to find.

Anyone have any recommendations? i have hornady brass and CCI 400 primers on hand.. aswell has H322 and Benchmark.

Thanks all

H4895 is my powder of choice for the .204 Ruger, though you have mentioned some of the others that I have used with success. IMR 8208 XBR is another.

I use BLC2 in my 2-204s. Everyone will jump in and say it is temperature sensitive. With about 1500 rounds I have not had a problem. I am not a coyote shooter but the guys around here swear by the Berger 35 gr HP. That is what I use in mine for paper and gophers.

I'm one of the guys that will tell you that BLC2 is temperature sensitive and I have done a few test with it in -40. The POI would move over 3" at 100yds. I use H4895 with 35gr Bergers for coyotes in one of my 204s. I also use a reduced load of H4895 and 30gr Bergers for fox and nuisance beaver in the same 204 with excellent results. My powder of choice in my main coyote hunting 204 is XBR 8208 with 35gr Bergers. I have tried a bunch of other bullets but find the 35 and 40gr Bergers work the best for me. I also load all my 204 loads with CCI 450 primers.

In my 204 and 20 tac I have had good luck with 10x and 322. I have used cfe223 and 4198 in the 204 too and exterminator in the 20 tac. The cci 400 will be a problem though if you are chasing top velocity in the sub cals. Cci 450 or Cci br will be much better choice. 400's cup is a little thin and soft for full house loads in the subs.

Thanks all!!! once i get these 32gr loaded up with im thinking Benchmark(onhand) or RL10X since both are readly available to me i will start to experiment with the Berger and different powders(unless the bug gets me sooner) As for the primers i have BR4 on hand aswell i think. if not a run to my supplier will solve the problem of primers.. and while im there ill just grab the H4895 or XBR. im not looking for extream velocity but enough to reach out 400 if needed.

Thanks agian all!

Blc2 is a good powder for me. Accurate, good velocity, less than 10fps spreads. Imr8208 is good, not quite as high velocity as advertised.(22" barrel). I've tried CFE 223 and was expecting big things and was deeply disappointed. Wide spreads and poor velocity. 26 gr varmint grenades are a poor choice for coyotes even at modest ranges. 40 gr noslers are excellent with no fur damage.

tomorrow will be calling my local powder supplier to see what he has in stock. A good friend of mine has RL10x on hand(a whole bunch) that he raves about so might be able to give it a go aswell if i cannot get 4895

Thanks all.. I willl post my chrony results and groups here in a couple days if i make it up to my range and the chrony works.

Thanks

I had read lots about RL10 on the 204 forum (lots of resources there) and wanted to try it but couldn't find any in Calgary at the time. Wanted to get shooting so all I could find was H322 so picked up a can to try. It worked well with both my 32 grain VMax and the 39 grain BlitzKing so when I found some RL10 I never actually tried it.

Very much miss my 204.

I had a T/C venture in .204. loaded with 39 blitzkings and H4895, I had them moving at 3700fps. They worked very good on coyotes, they'd go in and the only thing that might come out is a little bit of poop.

Perfect for saving furs.
