H&K G36 Civilian announced HK243 S SAR and TAR

Right, but not all AR's are created equal. The average joe citizen in the States doesn't have an HK mr556, they have a S&W mp15, or a mid range system. I was saying midrange 1000-1500 AR is a "honda", and a 3000 XCR/ACR/SCAR is a Ferarri. An HK mr556 is a Lamborghini.

So an xcr that is notorious for losing its screws, or an acr which had immense trouble running initially and the scar is a ferrari, a vehicle designed and perfected at a racetrack, and the mr556 is a lamborghini, a vehicle perfected to make maximum statment at the local nightclub? I think you got that a bit backwards mate.

there is no car analogy that would work for this.

The SCAR/ACR/TAVOR/XCR sells in us because some people have disposable income, and want something different. At least in the case of the SCAR owners can claim superior performance in the usm4 trials. The rest, literally because they want something a little different, oh let's toss the AUG in there as well.

In canada people like TAVORS because they are non restricted for the most part. That's why most places haven't sold the restricted models that much but the non res models fly off the shelf.

MR556 is only really bought by HK fanatics, or someone who runs their hardware hard suppressed, and the SCAR.

Wow you should go south and talk to people there. They get them guns for a complete different reason plus once you go down to lets say Texas you will get what the HK it's all about. Before that let's wait and see how much the GRID will push the price of this guns up. Looks like one other 5.56 will cost us a lot, and that could (i hope not) be just the beginnings.

If they keep that price or even if its like $2-300 over that I am for sure in for the basic... Rail version looks elfin' ugly, but the standard is what I want! so pumped for this now... gonna start saving up the pennies.

Only half true

They will need the order of council to get g36 prohibited by name

But not prohibited by converted auto. Same reason to get SCAR prohibited

Wha?

The G36 is not based in any way shape or form off the HK93 or HK91. They do not share even a single component except for ammunition.

There are ALREADY non-restricted and restricted (actual) G36's in the Canadian hands, from movie companies bringing in the Semi-Auto G36-P models.

Because the G36 was designed completely as a new rifle not directly modified from another gun (although you can say it shares very minor inspiration from the AR180B due to the short stroke piston) it would require an Order in Council for the G36 to be prohibited.

Ohh no way HK could get dinged by that.

Their export rules are FAR more stringent than Belgium, the gun has to have a different bolt/carrier and barrel design, so the carrier group, trigger group and barrel cannot be interchangeable in any way shape or form. That's part of the reason the SL8 and USC have those goofy take-down screws instead of push pins.

I wouldn't worry about it being classified as converted auto as much as I'd worry about another govt. classifying all semi-auto's as prohib by name or something...

They rifles just started shipping to dealers in Europe.

I've never understood the appeal for a plastic AR-18, but that doesn't look half-bad. If someone can deliver it for $2k CAD, I'd be down for one.

Any photos of the non keymod and UGLY butt stock model? Something that looks more like the original G36.

If you are going for the collectors look sure, but the new features are desperately needed on that rifle, nice to see they fixed that pistol grip.

Be interesting to see if these need a new FRT number or not since they have been renamed as a rifle by HK even though it is still a G36. I would be interested in one but a 3 year wait in the RCMP storage locker awaiting a number would suck.

For what the price of the advanced model versus the basic model I would go with the basic. But I would buy the cheek riser stock aftermarket and put it on for sure. On the HK website they have a full selection of aftermarket parts listed already.

It should have a SL8 variant FRT.

So now that FN Sports/RNichols is just bad taste in people's mouths, who's going to be in a position to import these, get them FaRTed, etc?

Once Shot Show is over we will have a better idea who the new Canadian distributor will be ...

I guess HK is finally learning to shift towards the american civilian market? That would mark an incredible paradigm shift in the company. Maybe well see these in what? 2047? By then we'll be on printing and home assembling our own chem rail guns...
