Summer Slam IX Aug. 8-9th *Registration Not Yet Open*

It answers a question that wasn't asked. It is what it is and we'll deal with it. However, if it was up to me it would be ignored. We run Summer Slam for 8 years now with shooters RO each other while wearing guns without an issue but you know, change for the sake of change and all that.
There will be a safety area near every stage for the shooters who are ROing to be able to take their gun off without have to walk a great distance and burn up time for nothing.

I think the new rule is a giant waste of time, but also understand the reason behind it.
As for allowing RO's to be a part of the squad making things faster, False. Having dedicated RO's even it's a half day situation like we do in BC makes stages run much much faster and give far better consistency in stage management. RO's and Scorekeepers, and if possible helpers, learn the quickest way to run the stage, keep it the same for everyone and then can pass that knowledge onto the next crew (if there is one) for the afternoon or next day etc. Just because it seems to work well for you guys now doesn't mean another way wouldn't be better.

Personally...dedicated ro's I think are an important part of.any big match....but.people will always vote with their feet if they dont like it

....instead of having to put a safety table at every stage and leaving ROs unattended equipment taking up room on them why not just have the RO bag his gun on the line prior to running competitors....quicker, easier and still in his possession

Rob, they been running matches with squad ROs for 8 years, so your common sense and experience worth nothing here. It is much more fun to run a circus like at the 2014 match, when squads jumping ahead of each other jamming the stages like crazy...

Not having dedicated RO's for a major match, is a shame.
Sure is. Too bad we have less than 200 IPSC members in NB and not enough ROs to draw on in order to make this happen.

Well thankfully you won't be back this year and won't have to worry about our circus.

You were getting shooters from multiple provinces. Surely you could call for ROs and could easily get 20..30 dedicated stage ROs.

It is not up to you to decide if I'll be there or not.

Eugene your feelings about dedicated RO's are clear to all now as you have posted it multiple times here. Now stop beating down on these guys over and over and over.

Not beating at all. All excuses I hear for not having dedicated ROs are really lame. Besides, it wasn't an issue to get ROs for the Nationals when it was there a year ago.

How do you know what it took to make that happen? I don't remember seeing you at any of the organizing committee meetings.

How's that? Actually it is not possible to run the squad in the most efficient way, because by the time they learn what is the most efficient way, they have to move to another stage... On top of that add inconsistency in running the stage, so not all competitors are shooting under the same conditions and even stage briefing may wary from squad to squad (subject of squad's CRO interpretation of the stage briefing).

you could be right, keyword being could. on the other hand, i know you shoot Wayne county matches that run in this format, where 11 stages are completed easily between 9:30-4:00 (including teardown) without any of the mentioned problems.

That maybe the only good thing, but then again, at most other matches ROs are given opportunity to shoot the whole match at a much faster pace.

again yes, and no - depends on what your time is worth/other responsibilities regardless of your willingness to help - shoot halfday (accelerated) and then watch others shoot the whole VS do both in a single day.

this can go back and forth forever - so lets put it this way, i see your point - i just don't agree with it.

Well one thing is for sure. You won't be ROing or shooting any more of them.

Merry Christmas

Please don't feed the bear :) Now he is going to respond that you can't stop him from shooting any match that he wants to..etc...etc......same as last year. This always goes around in circles. And then we will argue about the RO's again. I always think of groundhog day when I see the summer slam post appear.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night.

By that logic, I am going to kick you out of my match this weekend and keep your money. Muhaha!

You're right. IPSC cannot disallow an active member from shooting a match regardless of what they think of him.

Maybe come bearing gifts and a good attitude next time and all will be forgiven?

See you Sunday buddy.

Your right, but the clubs board of directors can revoke his invite, especially in Ontario where it is a legal document in regards to an ATT. IPSC are guests at clubs.
