Wind is blustering, artic front moving in - no range time today, makes for a dangerous shopping scenerio with 3 weeks off....

Been looking for a 375 H & H casually for a while now, it will be the last piece for my hunting arms collection. The wife has been good about the purchases this year and I don't want to push it, that is why I thought I wouldn't be shopping in earnst until late spring but then I stumble into the Tradex site! So, Serb made with a lot of history behind them, the reviews here seem mostly positive - function seems fine, maybe a little plain on the wood and a touch unfinished around the edges? Is that an accurate summary?
I'm a sucker for a mannlicher stock ( already have a couple Rugers ) but wonder if it is the sensible way to go in 375? Save $450+ over a CZ 550 or M70 and get the full stock, but I see 2 crossbolts on those models vs 1 on the Zastava? Would you wait or deem the Zastava a durable and worthy contender?
Have visions of winning my Grizz LEH this spring and dragging it with me..... ;)

I have the same rifle w/o the mannlicher stock in my "Shopping Cart" along with a 270 and 22 Hornet. :eek:) I'm pretty sure if I click the "Check Out" button I'll be instantly terminated by my wife considering it's over 2G and just after Christmas. Very tempting though!
I've googled Zastava and haven't found any real negatives yet. It looks like an excellent deal for a 375 H&H, which I have coveted since I tried out a friend's Brno. Very interested in any comments on Zastava in general but particularly about the 375.

I had a Zastava in 30 -06. It shot well. But my buddy coudn't live with-out it after i had the polymer stock water transfered with wood grain.I would get another one in a flash. I own and shoot a CZ550 Lux drop stock in 375 H+H,as well as a Winchester Model 70 push feed in 375 H+H, BUT i am still drawn to Tradex's Zastava 375 H+H Fullstock. I don't know how much longer i can resist. I have CZ550 medium in 9.3x62 Fullstock-it is a real pleasure to carry with the 20 " barrel as i would think the Zastava would be.
 
I have / had a few Zastavas. I currently have a custom made Whitworth Express in .375 H&H magnum that was made by Zastava. I have found them to be hardy and reliable.

I've been looking at the same rifle in 9.3X62 . I have an older Whitworth Express in 06 that was built on a Zastava , it's a great old rifle that I'll never get rid of . My hunting buddy bought the standard model in 375 H&H . I glass bedded it for him and put a pin behind the magazine just for insurance . It puts three factory 270's into about an inch and a half at a hundred yards . He's put a lot of rounds through it and so far , no problems with the stock . They are a little rough at first , but slick up with use . IMHO they are great value for the money .

I had one in a Whitworth mark X (rebadged Zastava), really liked it, but sold it too my cousin when i bought my 375 Rum.

I think you described it well, solid/utility rifle, a bit on the heavy side, low recoil for the bore, not ever going to be mistaken for a Cooper or Kimber.

I'm not familiar with the 0.366 Wagner, any idea where I could read up on that Cal?

:)That calibre designation of ".366 Wagner" by some of us on site is in recognition of what a site member has done to promote the 'calibre'. The gentleman is Ted Wagner who goes by Why not? on site and the calibre is the 9.3x62:d.

In planning to get a,.366 Wagner, I first accumulating components, especially a decent variety of bullets. With the accuracy I obtained with my first handloads, using the 285gr PRVI bullets, I haven't even tried any of the others,;) yet but plan to get at that early in the New Year.

 
Maybe it's just me but a 375 H&H with a Mannlicher stock just seems wrong. I'll take an Asian fish taco (no you sick bastards...not that!) but mixing British and Continental is just odd.

I know what you mean. For my taste, I like the Mannlicher stock, but only on rifles that are in a European calibre. The two I have are 9.3x62 (.366 Wagner) and the 7x57 Mauser. I did pick up one that belonged to a friend and hunting partner who passed away a few years ago. It was a Sako A III in .270 Win and I have since, put it up for 'adoption'. To my way of thinking, a nice rifle but the calibre and rifle style, 'didn't fit'.
