So I bought a SAM GI Tactical 1911, and I'm trying to choose what grips i want to put on it. Let me know if you have any suggestions. With my very limited Photoshop skill I've narrowed it down to three options:

1. VZ Grips Gunner Grips-Hyena Brown-Full Size 1911-Ambi Cut

2. VZ Grips Aliens-Hyena Brown-Full Size 1911-Ambi Cut

3. VZ Grips Slant-Military Brown-Full Size 1911-Ambi Cu

And this is what It will look like with a Surefire X300 and 10 round mag. What you guys think?

I dig #1 myself...
Great grips BTW.

I'm waiting for a new run they are working on for the L-Frame S&W's Round Butt (no finger grooves.)

Having owned or shot all three, my thoughts are:

1. Agree with Clobb. Without a doubt the best gripping of the three. My personal favorites. I had Gunners even back when Simonich was making them. They are a bit aggressive in texture and as such are not well loved by those with delicate hands. That said, you can knock off the sharp edges with sandpaper and thy are good to go. Albeit a bit less grippy.

2. The aliens are a bigger (fatter) grip , IMO, better suited to those with large hands. Decent texture, grippy enough for most but definitely a bit on the far side for my average size hands.

3. Pretty but otherwise meh. At least to my tastes. They ar decently grippy but nowhere near as much so as the Gunner Grips. If you like the looks they will be fine for most uses.

Now all of that said, you really can't go wrong with any VZ grips. They are all, high quality and you really will be impressed with which ever ones you end up getting. My closing thought is to recommend going with the thumb scoop. It really does make a difference. At least it does for me.

Good luck! And let us know which ones you decide on.
