I've been on the fence of wanting to get an XCR in 5.56 18.5" barrel. I have both a T97 and a Vz 58 and was considering on selling them both to fund the XCR. Worth it or should I keep the two guns?

Edit

What about the Bushmaster ACR? How are those things?

Does anyone know if they're be importing civilian CZ805?

Woohoo! The first T97 vs. AR vs. Tavor vs. XCR vs. ACR vs. VZ 58 thread for 2015!
I've shot the T97, owned a pre-keymod XCR and only fondled a VZ. As much as I think the XCR is the better made and thought out rifle, I think 2 rifles in the hand beats an XCR in the bush. The T97 and VZ are more maneuverable in the bush than the XCR non keymod. And I don't even like T97s!!
Trading 2 guns for one in the same caliber is a losing proposition to me. My $0.05.

I put that title to grab peoples attention. People seem to love threads like that. Pretty sure it will grab more attention then, "Thinking About Getting An XCR"

The T-97 takes 10 round LAR mags, the XCR is 10 rounds as well...........the VZ 58 is stuck at a pathetic 5 rounds = 0 fun.

I havent seen anyone at the range with an XCR yet, I would love to try one....

That's because they're all at home Loctiting them! I kid too! I had the XCR-L , AR and Tavor. The Tavor and AR are king in my books. Sold the XCR. Too unweldy and heavy for what it is. It also begs for a 2 point sling. Unless you're 6 feet tall, you'll be dragging your barrel through the mud!
PS sorry about your Tavor!

I had a XCR 762x39 and it ran perfectly and was fun. Found it very front end heavy and ultimately sold it. For my CQB needs I love my Thureon defence in 45 acp. I've had a couple vz58 rifles and love how they feel and balance and general use. The only thing holding me back from pulling the trigger on the T97 is the General ergonomics

A few years back I was at the range with my VZ.. and there was a fellow there with his XRC in 223... ..Lets just say while I was having a whole lot of fun, he spent his time dropping F-bombs. That said, I have never had any interest in the XCR

Get a VZ in 7.62 and get the xcr. The VZ is way too cool (in 7.62x39) and I miss my xcr.

Chances are if your considering selling a rifle (or 2) they aren't really near and dear to you, so I say sell them.

My plan I was thinking was sell these two, get the XCR, later in the future get another Vz 58 in 7.62x39 with a chromelined barrel. All I need to know is if the gun is a piece of #### or not. As far reviews go on youtube, things aren't looking all that great for it.

For the xcr? No there awesome. I traded mine for a tavor and I still can't decide if I should go back or not. The new ones a very reliable (and so was my old one). The problems were mostly with the first few models/revisions. I'd defiantly buy another one with confidence.

My xcr was slightly more accurate than my tavor but who cares about that. All these guys who just bench shoot these rifles are using this rifles in the most boring way imaginable. Bench for zero then never again haha.

Also the xcr is not heavy or unwieldy. Maybe if your used to some 7 pound competion ar or something but I never had a problem snap shooting and transitions between targets. I also work for a living so maybe my strength is to a point where 12 pounds doesn't feel like a whole lot haha.

I've handle the XCR-L and it's front heavy with the 18.6" barrel. I haven't handled the keymod version but I suspect it will be a bit lighter in the forearm.

I prefer the Vz58 to it. Lighter, slimmer, and the extra 4" of barrel doesn't throw off the balance excessively. Accuracy wise one of my 7.62x39 chrome lined rifles shoots 2 MOA with Barnaul (cool to warm barrel).

As for the T97... I've only handled one and considering a purchase. I have yet yo handle a Tavor.

I would sell the 5.56 Vz58 and buy one in 7.62x39. Keep the t97 and buy a XCR. But that's just me

I also see that a lot at the range, people shooting all the cool guns sitting on there butts. Black riffles are not bench guns, Stand up and shoot steel....

For a gun that was built on the principle of AR accuracy with AK reliability, the XCR hasn't quite lived up to its billing. In its defence, it is a quality firearm with well thought out ergos, features, a nice stock trigger and ease of use/disassembly. It is also NR and does take Beu and LAR mags so bang factor is there. Like I said previously, it is overly long and too heavy for anything other than range plinking and short field work. If we could get a short barrelled NR one, my opinion would definitely change.
If I were you and you really want to trade your current guns, for a NR .223, really look hard at a Tavor instead. It's $2-300 more than a XCR but I think you will be happier with it. You will even get used to the sh!tty trigger!

Sadly many shooters have no choice but to sit and punch paper. I feel lucky to have a place where I can shoot off-hand "targets of opportunity"

The thing I hear with my electronic muffs are also priceless. I heard last weekend that I was showing off because I was shooting steel at 200 yards with my pistol....

This was coming from a dude shooting a remington 700 at 50 yards.... lol.... He clued in right quick once I started looking at him and smiled...

What ever, lol....

I ve seen some ranges with the baffles, OMG that must suck.... I find paper the most boring thing ever....
