What would a Norinco SKS-D without magazine and bayonet be worth? It is in an older Tapco Folder stock... Bluing is very strong and barrel is chromed. I am just looking for ball park as I see them selling for ridiculous prices. I can buy an AK pinned mag for $50 but don't have any interest in shooting this. Are they rare and do they sell for a premium? They have to be worth more than the old $75 special chineses ones that are selling for $350.

Let me know guys. I don't have it with me as I am on the road so no pics available and just asking for a rough price.

That's awesome I would get rid of it for way less than that. I like the Russian SKS way more and haven't shot it for like 10 years.

I've seen them at gun shows around here for $400-500 with bayonet and all. If brand new $600 tops. I've seen guy on the EE try to sell them for $800 "it's rare, it takes AK mags, comes with dust cover scope mount etc, etc"

Hahahaha. Ya I like when people trick out their toys and shoot the hell out of them and want a as new price for them... Anyways that gives me a ball park. I may just work on trading it for two nice Russians. After all two com block sks are better than one... It's a cool rifle and looks sweet with the AK mags... But not my cup of tea.

depends on model, many went under sks d title
SKS -D
SKS -M
MC-5D
The MC-5D are the rarest, they use sks style mag catch, the D and M use ak style catch
Orignal are worth more. As with any rifle, matching numbers etc, including trigger guard
Priced like cars, more km, less money
ball park 400.00 and up

I had a "D" collection a few years ago , I paid $250-300 about 7 years ago .

due to space I sold all of them two years ago for $425 without bayo and $475 with bayo , sold with one 10 rd mag so today its probably $500-600 as derr12 said .

deduct $75 for the non-oem stock and add $40-50 for a 30 rd mag .

these prices are for real "D" , not the home made conversion .

I still cannot believe what the chinese 75 dollar specials are going for. A guy would be wise to buy a crate of nice russians and wait until the price goes up.

The market (supply and demand) sets the price. They get listed around $600 and they never sit there too long, they sell. Plus or minus depending on particulars, but around $550 - $600 is what the market says.

They're good, solid, moderately accurate, extremely reliable, semi-autos that fire a cartridge that you can actually hunt with. If you look around at the market, for a new-made comparable rifle, you're looking at $800-$1000 for a mini-30, or 858.

Sure, the 858 is the class of the bunch (IMHO), but its legal status is such a dogs breakfast right now, no wonder the SKS has gone up in value.

At $250-$300, SKS's are still a steal, and realistically, you can still find them in the $200 range.

For some reason, people think that the ability to put in an AK mag makes them "much-more-better, tactical-ninja" guns, which drives up the price. Never mind that the "D" and "Paratrooper" Chinese SKS's were purposely built for the North American market.

I have to admit, I was sorely tempted by the "D" SKS's for a while, but then just figured it didn't really gain me anything over my regular SKS's, so I stuck with those.

$500-$600 for one with the original stock, in good condition, and it will sell fast. Not sure about one with the aftermarket folder stock. I'm more of a purist, so I'd take a pass on it at pretty much any price, but there's a lot of guys out there who'd throw the wood stock in the firepit as soon as it got home and wrap in in tactical plastic. So I wouldn't low-ball the price.

I've seen D's that have been so shot out they're pretty much a smooth bore, on a table at a gun show for $600, and not last the first hour after the doors open. They're just not that common, and guys who want 'em, want 'em, and they'll pay.

once upon a time a regular Chinese SKS was selling for $99 and the "D" was selling for $26 more, fast forward a couple of decades , the regular Chinese SKS is selling for $200 and the "D" is selling for $600 .

the difference is rarity , 10 of thousands of regular Chinese SKS and only thousand of the "D" were imported , that's the difference .

I agree some day the value of the Russian SKS will go up but it will never do as well as the "D".

The sks MC-5D were 300 new. That was 20+ Yrs ago. If you can find one original unfired, its 500.00+ They are now collectors. I dont think this 200.00 increase over 20 yrs would be considered a good investment.
