The Modern Hunter Rifle UPDATED December 10 2015

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep their brass when reloading for semi autos if they were going to reload for the modern hunter? Or does everyone just look for their brass in the grass and snow after shooting? My current consideration right now is that bolt action reloading is easy to keep onto your brass... I've never attempted to load for a semi because the brass is always getting lost, and when i do find it it is dinged up by the action.

Well there are several varieties of commercial brass catchers. Essentially bags that attach to the receiver to catch the brass.

I can't recall if they did it or not, but I know people were talking about the option of making the gas block adjustable so it could be tweaked to possibly not mangle the brass so much, or even shut off to make the rifle a straight pull bolt action, that way the brass doesn't fly anywhere at all.

Still working on this, but I think we are getting real close.

From the few thousands rounds I have put through the guns, the brass seems to normally land about 3 feet forward and 2 feet to the right.
That being said finding any brass in tall grass or deep snow can be a #####.

From what I recall shooting the MH it didn't really mangle the brass at all, not sure if its the design of the deflector or ??? But not bad at all.
I'm hoping to use Lapua in mine and get some handloads tuned up. Just have to figure out where to get some 178 gr Amax from....
Might have my bolt gun in 308 up for sale on EE soon.:sniper:

Not cool!! Between the rifle, scope mount & scope I have over 10k tied up in my MH! Hopefully this is just a slight blip. For it to end up restricted now would suck.

Suck is a mild word, devastating would be my word of choice.

Given my discussions with the RCMP lab the chances of a change of classification is extremely unlikely.
We should have the final word back any day now.

Damn, waiting for the final classification is like watching a sudden death Stanley Cup final!!!!

There will be some serious celebrating by many of us, once the final frt comes back non restricted. I'd love to be at ATRS when they get the goods news!

When i order my modern hunter i will be putting my Schmidt and bender pm2 5-25 with near alpha mount on it... cost me close to 5k new, realistically atlas bipod and monopod 500 ish... good case, extra mags 400-500, it wouldn't take that much to buy a modern hunter and get over 10k into it.

Didn't realize Atlas bipods were $300!

Our dream build clocked in at $3964 and featured this beauty:
