a kid's .22

Savage Rascal is a superb firearm. My father in law bought one for my daughter, despite her being a few years away from being able to shoot it.

Hasnt stopped he and I from shooting it though. Its tiny, but very well built. The best thing is its not just a normal sized reciever with a small stock. Everything is scaled down. Its got a great peep sight, and a safety that leaves no question marks.

its also a shame I just bought a new gun, else I'd of made an offer on your T/C hot shot. lol. DOnt think my wife will approve of another new gun so soon.

Is that the EGW Rascal mount? Where or how did you get it? Did you order from EGW directly, or did you manage to find one here? I mounted a Barska red dot, but I had to put a riser on the Rascal mount, and the whole thing's pretty high. I've been trying to find that EGW rail, but no luck.

I would be willing to sell this T/C or trade it for a scopeable rifle.
When my boys were young, they had a Chipmunk, but for the grand-daughters, the bolt cocking puller would be not good.

Wholesale sports carries the Hotshot scope rails but they're not listed on line, you have to call or Email them directly. I looked for one for about a week before I found it. Dead simple to mount as well, just take off the rear sight and screw on the rail. Any standard rim fire rings will fit on the rail as well, you don't need Thompson rings.

I found the mount while searching for something else on EGW's site, then ordered it through Prophet River. Took a little while, but it's the best option out there.
 
I bought my grandson a CZ 452 Scout. It comes with a single shot adapter and IIRC a 5 shot magazine. I ordered a couple of 10 round magazines for my grandson's rifle. Over time this little rifle can be fitted with a sling and swivels, and the sights can be upgraded, Williams makes a version of their Fool Proof aperture sight specifically for the CZ Scout. As the kid grows and out grows the stock, you could add spacers to the butt plate, or simply replace the stock with a full sized CZ 452/453 stock. I think this is a better alternative than the budget priced rimfire rifles designed for the kid's market. Its a quality rifle the youngsters can fight over though out their lives or pass down to their kids or grand kids.

Although I added some upgrades, this is basically what the rifle looks like (if I'd taken the picture, the bolt would have been in it) . . .

Had a Henry Mini bolt that I bought used from a well known board member for my son. He had it for about 5 years, so he would have been 6. I recently sold it to another member. It was a great rifle when my son got it, while he used it, and when it went to a new home. Highly recomend it!
 
The Savage Rascal is an awesome little rifle. Can also get it in left handed if that matters to you (it did for us). Ordered the EGW rail direct but haven't put it on yet. Peep sights work well. Also makes a nice grouse gun as it fits in the center console of my truck. A little awkward for dad to shoot with the short pull but still gets the job done.

26 round of Remington Peters on 100 refused to fired.
Unacceptable.
Did 225km, and saved $$$ to make my sweeties happy and have good time,
Bad day at the range.....

I bought a Rascal for my son for Xmas and it hasn't misfired in 200 rounds. In fact, I would take the misfires from my 10/22 and load then into the Rascal and blast them off.
 
1/2 tank and 2.5 hrs. later, just came back from Cabelas,
Customer service is fine, cant complaint.
Took the misfired rounds, and tried them in the new (replacement) one.
One round refused completely to fired, 2 of them required a 2nd cocking,
the rest was fine,
Can I put the blame on the ammo ?
maybe,
but: the last Rascal was a bad one.
 
I have have a rascal for my daughter.
I had the same issue with misfires.
You will find the primer strike looks wide.
I removed the firing pin and made it a bit narrower
since then it's been flawless.

Get the occasional light strike on the boys rifle. Good practice for counting before opening the chamber. Second nature to him now lol. That is a damn accurate little rifle though.
