My most coveted 7x57 lightweight Mauser built by Richard Gibbs and Dennis Sorensen (guntech) has mysteriously disappeared somewhere between Winnipeg and Edmonton, on route to BC! Beware if you plan to ship a long gun in the mail! I've been assigned a "Claims Advisor" to deal with compensation, but CP still wants to conduct a search. Should I be informing the RCMP? I am so stupid... I only insured it for $1200. Holy f**k, I'm going to blow a gasket! @#$%^&*

UPDATE: Arrived at destination exactly 1-week late. :) Shipping refunded.

If it was well packed and addressed clearly it will show up I am sure... and if it is late arriving you can have your mailing costs refunded in full. I use CP almost every day - nothing lost or damaged.
 
Hopefully its sitting in a mail truck getting a ride all over creation and not liberated by a larcenous employee. My wife had a parcel disappear for 28 days before they found it sitting in the local Canada post office.
 
It was religiously well packaged. Thick white paper wrap. Large address text.

Guys, I hope so. I couldn't care less about any other rifle in my collection. This one is an heirloom piece.

I have shipped 25+ rifles the same method, mostly to Alberta and BC, and always on time with CP using ExpressPost. Hoping this is an anomaly.
 
Not to fan the flames of anxiety, but they did manage to turn a brand new Krieger target barrel into a hockey stick on me a year or so ago.
Put that puppy in a vise to see if I could move the bend angle. I couldn't move it... ...must have been run over by a truck.
They also managed to coax a M98 barrel out of the end of a double carton that was quite well packed since then.
That being said, a parcel showed up today in pretty good shape externally. Just one hole in the side.
 
Hard not to worry, but sometimes the staff at CP can't read the address and they have to find someone that can. I've been told this can take up to 28 days.
 
Anything shipped in the three day time frame is nothing short of a miracle.
I bought a prop for my Yamaha off Kijiji and the thing was double wrapped.
Meaning, box stuffed full of newspaper crumpled up.
Taped all the way around, then brown paper rapped again using the same diligence
with the tape.
They managed to drop it and bend a fark'n prop tip.
Cracked too.
Off to the Prop Shop.............dastards.
 
I think that has something to do with whether or not it is being shipped on a plane? Dunno. I do know that I've been using XPost option for years without issue.
I will call CP to see.

More than a decade a go I had the same issue. Rifle was eventually found. OPP couldn't care less that it was missing for a month. This was back in the hay day of registration.
 
I have had two of my rifles damaged in the past. One was a steyr mannlicher they managed to break off at the wrist, and one was a ruger #1 that they pierced the box with a forklift and bunged up the front sight, and muzzle of the barrel.

When it comes to CP nothing surprises me anymore. This is also why I shake my head when guys aren't willing to insure their parcels.

I feel for the op.... It sucks when it happens to you.
 
I spoke with a rep from CP. He had no idea whether or not there's an issue shipping via Xpost. A bit of internet searching did yield some mixed information, but it does appear that long guns are to be shipped Ground only. The CP rep did confirm that the rifle was on a truck as far as Winnipeg, and that it's now off the radar. It was shipped on Tuesday morning, and by this time, it should be further along. Hoping CP is just late this time.
 
It will show up... I have had this happen a dozen times... some new trainee put it on the wrong shelf somewhere and they misplaced it... someone else will find it and move it along... have a beer and watch Big Bang Theory and chill out... you'll drive yourself crazy watching the CP tracking site...
