Will 17 mach 2 aka 17hm2 stick around

So if Savage drop it then its dead I would have thought? The Sako is a $1,000 and the Cooper $1,000. Not enough to support manufacturing the ammo. A real shame, its so much better than .22lr but at a cost.

Candocad.

Please point me in the direction of the $1000 Coopers you refer to

I have 2 17M2's left- a 10-22 conversion and a lh heavy barrel Savage bolt action. I love them both and like Stubblejumper, I have around 15-20 thousand rounds in my locker. Picked up 2+ cases of CCI awhile back at $5/50 rds ;) You just need to keep your eyes open for this ammo and grab it when you can.

How's the 10/22 feed? Accuracy?

My pops has an hm2 chambered remi. When we gopher hunt, I try to convince him to use anything else so I can play with it. I think it will fade away in time. The hmr is more popular with a similar price point and more fps.

Not the best example,,How many guns can you still buy in 30-30?..funny there is still ammo. Come on they just don't stop making ammo ..

I have two Mach 2s. A CZ 452 and a Marlin. Sold the Savage a while back. Love Em both and the caliber. Down to my last 10,000 rounds. Need to stock up! Deadly on gophers.

While there might be quite a few enthusiastic shooters here that enjoy the caliber I really don't think that many in the overall shooting community are going to be buying. If they are willing to pay the extra for a higher velocity 17 it will be the bigger faster one nearly every time.

I just can't see it surviving. Owners will find themselves orphaned and in the same situation as people who are looking for 5mm shells in another 5 years.

I have heard this round downplayed since I bought my first one in 06- I had to drive to Calgary just to buy it and the only 3 boxes of ammo they had. Since then I have owned many-6 guys at our shop own them and love them besides me. Sure beats my .22 but that's my opinion. As long as savage keeps selling them and enough of us buy ammo it will last-yes it is a niche round but for small animals nothing beats it-and still half the price of HMR ammo! Check rim fire central for more info !
