It's kinda like admitting you're an alcoholic I would imagine. I found myself buying more .22lr today. Yeah it was only a couple bricks, but I really don't need any more! I've got more than I'll ever shoot, but still I drove to the gun store in that hour window while waiting for my daughter to finish Sunday School. Disturbing really

I have way more ammo than I "probably" need but it's better to have and not need than to need and not have. Look what's going on with my beloved green tip in the US it may not effect us but If it does I'll b good 4 a few years.
IMO too much would be not being able to enter my basement and even then mabey that's just enough...who's to say

I've been watching the trend in the States for a solid year on YouTube....green tip is disappearing off the shelves FAST. Maybe as fast as the .22lr was a couple months back. It's a freakin religion State Side. Even non gun owners are hoarding ammunition

I'm glad to know that I'm in good company. I buy ammo regularly in small quantities to ensure I have it if it is ever necessary. How long is it good for?

I couldn't even get 9mm on my last 2 trips to the gun shop. There was one place in town however the price was ridiculous. So me and a friend just split a case from one of the sight sponsors and paid the $50 shipping. Still cheaper than local. I honestly get a slight bit nervous when I can't find any ammo. Then I feverishly search the net for deals and buy some.

In some of the Southern States .22lr has become accepted currency. No joke

Fun fact: in the old west, when a man wanted a drink at the bar in town, he sometimes didn't have the money. But he did have some .45 cartridges for his gun. Since the value of a drink of whiskey and the single piece of ammo were about the same, the bar tender would accept the cartridge in exchange for the drink.
This is where the term "shot" of liquor comes from.

ammo is a good investment imo. It never drops in value. If im ever strapped for cash, i put a brick up for sale and it always sells within 48 hrs. I always have a years supply.

It's sad but very true. I look @ bricks I bought this time last year, and in most cases there's a $10 increase. 9mm has gone up @ least $3 a box of 50rds since last year. In some cases almost $5 depending on brand.

I try to keep 10K rounds minimum for anything I shoot regularly. 223, 7.62 x 39, 45 acp, 9mm, 22lr. I try to take advantage of the sales ie; family pack pricing, buy 3 get 1 free, etc. For hunting cartridges like 300 RUM etc I only keep a couple hundred rounds. If I ever sat down and did the math on powder quantity I would be worried I would need a magazine permit. Ignorance is bliss. ;)

Honestly, I've considered not buying anymore guns for the immediate future, and spending ALL that money on ammo. Stacks, crates, boxes, packs and cans of wonderful, beautiful ammunition...

Ammo is a real good investment. I bought bricks of CCI stingers and Veloctors for $35.00-$40.00 a brick a few years ago and the price has doubled. My dad gave me some 7MM mag ammo (200 rounds) that he bought and the price tag on it say's $6.95 per box.

Almost forever if you keep it in a cool dry place. Mine is in a gun locker with dehumidifier inside. I have enough .22LR to keep me busy for 10 years.
