What do you think?
Going to use one for IPSC classic division.
Comments, suggestions, opinions welcome.
Thank you
Can't shoot classic with the Edge (double stack etc)
Sti trojan, #### kimber
Personally I do not believe you can beat a 9mm in classic division (the 10 rounds is an undeniable advantage IMO) and like the others I would suggest you consider STI.
The Edge is a fantastic platform for standard division.

Given a choice though I'd go to the Edge in 40; standard division is a very established division usually with many competitors, classic is kind of new and may not have many competitors in your area (or perhaps you may...).
Awesome #### Kimber must mean BEST Kimber
lol
It's only an advantage if you shoot all Alphas. Shooting minor (9mm) means more rounds, but it also means that you have to shoot half as many Cs and Ds as the guy shooting major. Yes, you occasionally (like 1 time per match) can get by with 1 less reload, but that doesn't make up for higher scoring major power factor.
I started in Classic using a 9mm and quickly switched to .40. I haven't looked back. The majority of guys shooting Classic/Single Stack agree.
.40 also gives you the option of shooting minor (and using 10 round magazines) - should you so desire.
Ya I've always found it interesting that some brands seem to get pilloried up here but not on the U.S. forums (or at least not to the same degree).Gotchya! Now I understand.
I'm new to IPSC but now I see what you mean.
As you mentioned, shooting minor you would have to shoot all Alpha's and hope that those shooting major would make some Charlie's and Delta's.
Dang!
And last comment.
The LAPD SWAT field tested 5 1911 pistols and chose Kimber as their duty carry.
The United States Marine Corps assigned to Special Operations Command chose the Kimber as their carry pistol.
The USA rapid fire pistol team chose Kimber to compete for Olympic competition
and recently, the LA Special Investigation Section known as the SIS chose Kimber to manufacture their EDC weapons. These guys are the ones who are most likely to be engaged in using deadly force on a consistent basis.
I guess LAPD SWAT, The USMC, the US rapid fire pistol team and the LA SIS are only interested in looking pretty and plinking, not proper competition shooting and training.
I guess all those folks never go in harms way.
lol
