So I thought id play around and put some money into an SKS. Ya I know its an SKS, but they are a fun gun to shoot and I wanted something unique that had a low initial cost. I have a couple VZ's already. So we chopped the barrel down to 18.6 inches and threaded on a muzzle brake. We filed the transition in the barrel from where the front post used to be. I die grinded out the ejection part on my receiver to allow the bullets to eject to the side around 2-3 o clock instead of straight up in the air. Then I bought the AR mag adaptor out of Texas. Had the gun smith mill out what needed to be done on the receiver and the bolt. I then had the rear take down pin taken out and had a allan key screw threaded in there. Threw it in an archangel stock that took forever to dremel out enough material so the new mag adaptor would fit in it. I then went out and purchased magwedge's for the mags to give it a stick mag look. The only things left is to get the BC Scout mount attached with a Holosun red dot tomorrow and send it off to Armacoat to get sprayed black so everything matches. Thanks for looking.

That Loookssss AWEEEESOMME :p

I have a tacticool'd sks as well but you sir have taken it to the next :) I want that mag adapter sooooo bad, good to know i can get one from texas. If they ship to Calgary they must Ontario

Is this something a guy could carefully pull off in the garage with a die grinder and carbide cutter? Or does one need a mill to do it properly? I was checking this out, love to try it, but don't want to hack my unissued Russian up and with our exchange rate this becomes an expensive endeavor. May have to mull it over I guess and see.

onetwenyish point me in the right direction, I like that armacoat sandblasts off all the old stuff first and then paints. If there is some one in town who does similar work in Calgary id love to know. This rifle was probably at the gun smiths for a couple months getting the milling and barrel threading done.

Flybyu44 you can do it with a diegrinder. I choose to go through with having a gun smith do it because I wanted it to look like it was done like that from the factory. there is another post in here where a guy did it with a diegrinder. Its up to you which way ya want the gun to look

Does the bolt stay open when you fire the last shot? I know in the older version of this adapter this was an issue. Not sure if this has been resolved in the latest version?

No the bolt does not stay open, I would have to modify some of my mags and I didn't want to do that. This rifle will never be used for military purposes so I could care less about it. The scout mount is on there now, and I ordered a holosun 403G red dot for it. Trying to keep the weight down as much as possible.
