I just purchased a 1 in 8 twist .223 I plan on shooting long range and now want a quality optic for it. I have a chance at a DMR 3.5-21x50 at $1399 and was able to fool around with it and it seems solid. Turrets are very nice, great click to them and they lock, glass is Japanese and reticle is the G2..very functional, not too cluttered. Im a 100% MOA guy...never used metric and thats a concern and am not too keen on buying 35 mm rings. I have tossed the idea of a Sightron SIII 6-25x50 but price is only $150 less and of course they arent in stock anywhere then I have to wait for who knows how long with no optic.
Any suggestions? I know they get rave reviews on some dedicated precision shooting forums but like to hear what fellow CGN'ers think?

Cheers!!

If it's the scope I think it is? It has .1 mil clicks and no zero stop. I guess it depends on what your "long range" is, mine is anything pass 600m. The 34 mm rings are readily available in most places so that's a "non issue". If the glass is clear and you're OK with the weight? Bushnell are making a very good product these days. I have 2 of the same only in the ERS model. Good Luck.

A lot of Bench rest shooters use Sightron, & a lot of Tactical shooters use Bushnell? I guess it depends on you? and what type of shooting your doing?

I would wait and get a Sightron. There is a good reason that they are sold out.

Part of that problem is there are squat for dealers, I know of a whopping 2 Sightron dealers and they are always sold out of the models I want. Every shop in Canada deals with Bushnell so stock isnt usually an issue. That being said Sightrons are solid for the $$.

Im planning on mostly shooting off a bench, I have access to a 1000 yard range as well and will also use the rifle in the gopher patch. So I guess it may lean towards a more tactical style????? maybe :)

I does indeed have .1 click with no zero stop....really having no ZT isnt an issue for me.

Adding a zero stop to a Sightron with exposed turrets is pretty easy. All I used was a 3/4" copper pipe cut to the proper length put under the turret.

The Sightron is pretty tactical as well...

A lot of people really talk up the Bushnell and I'm sure it will get the job done. I've just never seen one.

It's a great scope. Mine is the same but with the mildot reticle. I wouldn't call that an amazing price for one. There was a discontinued model selling on CGN recently for under 1000. See if you can find that.

I have two of the Sightron Siii and a Bushnell DMR 3.5-21x56 and both are very good scopes. For paper punching at known distances I'd go with the Siii but for tactical style shooting or if you want to work on UND stuff then get the Bushnell

I have the ERS model with the 1. mil turrets & zero stop. Theses scope are in the $1800 to $2200 new and are certainly worth the coin. The P&D deal was a once in a lifetime, people who knew what the scope was like, got in early and were extremely lucky. Give Plainsight Solutions a call, he likes the product and will probably give ya a "deal" Cheers

His are $150 more then I can buy local I already looked lol.

The zero stop adds about $500 on these scopes...very expensive upgrade.

Cheers!!

WSS was blowing out their stock on these too... The hdmr version with g2 and no zero stop. Some have limited quantities left.

Well I bought the Bushnell DMR with G2 reticle. Now I just need some 34 mm rings that wont break the bank Im ready to shoot this .223.
Can anyone point in the direction of some 34 mm rings.

Cheers!!

You saved on the scope.... Use those funds to buy decent rings. $75 is not going to buy anything worth owning. The cheapest of the quality 34mm rings will likely be the TPS.
