which powder would you go with?...

i'm loading for 45ACP, either 200 or 230gr projectiles, so would you use
A) win 231, B) HP38, C) CFE pistol
if you feel like your reasons for preference would be appreciated

Power Pistol, because it's spectacularly awesome.

I have a pound of 231 that I picked up a few days ago, no prior experience with it though, but I have used WSF. I've heard good things about HP38 and CFE too. Worst case, grab a pound of each, pick the one you like, and sell the rest to me for a discount.

In all seriousness, if you ever come across power pistol... it really is awesome if you like noise, fire, and high velocity.

Win231 and HP38 are identical.
I have both and have loaded .45ACP with both and I prefer the Win231/HP38. Recoil pulse is more of a "push" than CFE Pistol, which is great in lighter rounds (i.e. less than 230gr) I've found.

I have a pound each of 231 and HP38 that our local dealer just got a small shipment of. They both have the same lot number on them, so, not even lot to lot variation between them.

W231 is the only way to go for 45, 540 was good but discontinued

I would go with 231, it is becoming easier to find as I now have 5 lbs I have acquired over the last 3 months.

Power Pistol, Unique and Bullseye have all worked well for me. Can't be too picky these days.

From what I read about the CFE Pistol is that it works better it hot loads. That's fine if you're loading for Major in IPSC, but if you're loading target rounds not so much.
