Milsups like the old days - almost!!!

Hardly any Russian junk. (...) The only person who would buy a Mosin couldn't afford a Mauser or Enfield, and even then most people would save up to avoid the ridicule of owning a Mosin.

Junk?

That's hardly what I'd call the beautiful 1940 Izkvesk round receiver I picked up as my "birthday present Mosin" last year.

But then again, I've always been a contrarian and just don't care what others think.

I own a few examples of what you call "Russian junk" and have no desire to own or use ANY of the rifles you mentioned. They hold no interest for me, not like WWII Russian firearms.

I look forward to later this Spring or Summer when I'll arrive at the Selkirk range in my mint and soon to be vintage Lada station wagon, open the hatch, and pull out my vintovkas for a pleasant shooting session !!

Hope to see you there !!

I just wonder where they all went? I know some got sporterized, or stripped for parts etc, but there must be lots sitting in people's basements, 'cause they were EVERYWHERE.
Yeah, ^^^ and the OP wasn't saying today's selection is just like the old days, obviously... just that stores having a fair amount of milsurp stock reminds him of those days.

Well, I've seen Enfield hoarding by collectors with numbers pushing near 70 rifles, so yeah, they are certainly out there. But only for a very, very few to ever enjoy.

We very likely may run into each other there. Maybe you could educate me a bit on Mosins. I've never even touched one, we wouldn't even look in the general direction of one. :p

Funny the last time I was through Milarm; they had cool stuff, but when I asked for Mosin accessories...I got a snub from the clerk. Which didn't make me smile by any means.
Looks like FSU stuff is popular there now though, which is good. I hope that clerk that snubbed me has moved on as well, maybe I'll go back there again.
