Robarms XCR FAQ post

not sure if this is the place to ask but just got a XCR-L was going to use it to take out back and shoot the gong and my be a little 3 gun. just wanted to know what up dates are you guys putting on for 3 gun fun or whats out there that makes it a better gun to shoot. I'm asking this because I do not have the time to read all the posts on here lol what you put on your gun and where you got it would be nice and there is no optics yet need that to
thanks for your help

I keep mine as light as possible. It is a relatively heavy gun to begin with so my optic is an Aimpoint T1 Micro. I replaced the grip and butt stock with Magpul CTR and MIAD. You would need an AR stock adaptor for that unless you like the FAST that it comes with. Otherwise, a 1-2 point sling attached to a good sling adapter and it's good to go. For night time I use an Inforce WML as they are very light weight and have the mount built into the light body. Very ergo...

thanks for info can you post up a pic or 2 of your gun for me thanks

I have the XCR-L 223 keymod that I use for coyote hunting. It is scoped with a Burris 1.75-5x in Burris HiTac rings, a Burris reflex red dot on a 45 deg mount and I left the factory Troy BUIS in place.

I have no issues with it's weight set up that way.

I got my XCR-L Keymod from Weekend Gunslingers sporting a Eotech XPS 2 and a novenske rail with an AFG. I think I am going to ditch the AFG and rail in the name of weight, but may end up with another Elcan Specter DR 1-4x and a Surefire scout on a novenske scout light mount.

Question guys, other then the new keymod being lighter / more balanced & changes to the bolt which is a better system type 1 or type 2 XCR-L.
I guess this would question would also apply to the bolts which is a better bolt system & is it worth it getting the newer model XCR or opting for a cheaper type 1 model?

I haven't put a lot of research into the newer XCR-Ls, so I am not qualified to answer whether the bolt design on the newer rifles is better or worse, but I did pick up a keymod, pencil barrel the other day and it was really nice. I love my last gen quad rail w/ heavy barrel and I have yet to have an issue, but the keymod w/heavy barrel (just cause) would be my choice if I had to buy again....and I would buy an XCR again.

I had the keymod and am now looking at the version just before the keymod. I had it apart today and the only difference I could see was the bolt buffer? Was made out of metal where as my keymod Bolt buffer was made of rubber. ( I'm talking about the 1/2 moon shape thing that goes around the firing pin).

I searched the forum, but can't find out the answer. is it easy to change barrel caliber, like from 223 to 7.62x39? Should I bring to gun smith to measure header space or something else? Thanks a lot.

Yup, because there's only one manufacturer, all the barrels and receivers interface properly and all clearances are good to go, provided the barrel is correctly seated in the receiver. I would highly recommend a torque wrench to tighten the barrel bolt down, as improper torque might cause poor accuracy.

Hi can some one tell me what the threads are on the flash hider is. I want to put a muzzle brake on but could not find the size. also any ideas for witch one to buy. I have a 223 xcr-l
Thanks Rick

get a S&J linear comp , dont blow the eardrums out of ya , if you fire a couple shots without your hearing protection.

Its the same threads as any AR rifle 1/2x28. Im currently running a micheluk comp. amazing how steady it makes follow up shots. There are so many choices its mind boggling! You need to decide what attributes you want then decide on the style

For your information, Tara from RobArms did told on XCR forums back in the past to torque the under barrel's nut to around 250 inch/lbs.
But the XCR manual says: 200 inch/lbs or 16.67 foot/lbs.

So use a good torque wrench and you'll be allright!

wolverine also says 250 inch/ lbs... I over torqued mine a little and snapped the head off , it was a ##### to fix. Just saying.. Be careful :) Is B . I .t.c.h a bad word....
