How long will a sks last?

Just over the 1000 round count now. Had to shim stock, bolt carrier showing typical wear from sliding on receiver/bolt.

Just curious how much they can take. Bore still looks mint.

8000 rounds plus now ...stock is loose again..chucking them around the target.
thought it was the gun so used a makeshift bag.
its a little stock issue and a shooter issue (been shooting the mosin a lot)

This is a safe bet .
My bore is still nice.

Rust is the killer (wreck your gas system fast)

I clean mine pretty religiously all wear so far is from metal on metal contact, haven't seen a spec of rust yet.

I just started the water thing.
gas pushrod is injured lol.
still funtions fine though.
I can see and feel marks on my bolt.
still runs flawless though

It should last virtually forever. It's overbuilt, bombproof and was made for war not for petting. The weakest part is the stock because there's no liner.

They will outlast you if you take care of them. If you don't do barrel burning runs with it, 20-30,000 rounds I'm sure.

Chrome lined and lower velocity round to begin with "in regards to center fire rifles anyway".

These things are tough as nails, that's basically all there is to it.

This I think is the key. Although many of us are probably guilty of letting the SKS get a bit on the hot side thanks to how cheap the ammo is and how fun she is to shoot...
