Well, it may not be considered a thumper but I have one in 7x64R and another in 357maximum as well as a wildcat in 257maximum (357 maxi necked down to 257). The wildcat is on a cadet action and the other two are on full size actions. I also have one in 30-40 US Govt and 22 Hornet.
They are tough actions. I have seen some of them chambered in some very radical wildcats that develop some what I consider to be excessive pressures but they haven't let go or even show any signs of it.
An old, now deceased friend had one chambered in 458 win mag. I was afraid to shoot it for two reasons, one it kicked like a hell driven mule and two it would be just my luck that it would let go. He used it a lot. It had a 18 inch bbl on it that was 1 inch in diameter from the receiver to the muzzle. He installed a home made rear L shaped sight that he would flip up for 100 and 200 yds. The front sight was one of those found on Italian Black powder replica Plains Rifles. He took several moose countless black bears with that rifle. He loved to roam the woods and this was what he considered to be the ideal back up rifle in a pinch. He never hand loaded an just used factory fodder with the lightest/cheapest bullets he could find.
There is a lot you can do with that receiver.
Much more to it than just screwing on a chambered bbl. The face of the chamber needs to be cut for the pivoting extractor and the extractor needs to be modified to fit the case you decide upon.
