New Type 97? Anyone know any more info?

They're a good tacticool first firearm try do have limitations which are obvious even at a glance, my advice would be get one enjoy it as it is and save for a tavor. Throwing 1500 worth of crap on it won't make it a tavor

Truth!! Just save up a little longer and buy a tavor. T97's are not that great.

Definitely happy with my T97 and FTU. Can't compare it to a Tavor - never used one, but I find it just as functional as the C-7s and C-8s I've been gettin' paid to use for the last 20 years. Only complaints are the safety and sloppy trigger, and the T97.ca LHG should address that.

Are T97s any good?

I was on the verge of buying a T97 until then I tried it; was not impressed:

- Mag catch is on the wrong side(for right handed) in a very awkward spot
- Charging handle is hard to use(no room to wrap a finger around it)
- Locking the bolt open is kinda sketchy(Hold bolt back while sticking finger up magwell and pressing bolt lock)
- Balance is pretty terrible, all the weight is in the back; handles like a brick

Only thing that's going for it is that it's a relatively cheap NR rifle that takes stanag mags.

I love my T97. Only issue I have is the safety which the T97.ca lower will fix. The mag release isn't an issue for me but they are also modifying that.

It's ran 100% with everything I've put through it, as well it has a much better trigger than a tavor. Specially after the T97.ca lower / trigger is in.

With the FTU, LHG installed it will have cost me $1660

Still half price of a Tavor with a new trigger pack... And with those mods I see no benefit to a tavor.

when is the type 03 coming?

Yeah, this rifle looks pretty interesting. Already has a non-restricted length barrel

http://www.emfirearms.com/production/3/2014/0810/131.html

I was looking at the Type 03 too, but I want it in 308 :D

I m more interested in the Type 03. and that emei3512 Any more info on em, anyone ?
there was a fellow who works for Norc or sb, and he said these new guns were made available to export.

It is being worked on. The Type 03 and the Type 05 (aka the EM452). But that is all I am saying.

Sad to see those firearms that will never make it here

You once again have no informed idea what you are talking about.
