So I orderd one on a whim today, not a lot of threads about them. (under 10)

Lets see the pictures of yours with a brief review (How does it show, fit, finish, overall, ect)

All I get to look at so far hopefully she comes soon.

Mine has beautiful, solid wood for a Norinco. Bolt is a little gritty, but that can be fixed. My only real gripe is that the front sight post is quite large (wide), so much so that it takes up most if not all of the target at around 50 yards. Again, something that can be fixed by putting an optic (with high rings to make sure they fit over the rear sights) on it, or filing it down a little. Quite accurate for a cheap little Norc. I love it and the look. Don't have any pictures yet but maybe I will take some crappy ones in a big and put them up. Congrats on a great little rifle.

Outside finish is nice, inside receiver and the bolt are pretty bad even by Nork standards. Very rough machine work on the inside. I had to de-burr and smooth out the cocking piece on mine as it quit opening at one point. Trigger is pretty bad, safety is very hard to engage due to the rough machine work on the bolt.
But it does look pretty :)

Lets see some pics ! Gritty things arnt a huge issue for me... Have the tools available to smooth that out and polish it up. Front sight post seems to be a common complain, think I will fine it down a little with some hand tools. Triggers also can be smoothed a bit. Seems like it will be a fun little project.

Behold my photochopping skills!

So... A Chinese copy of a Czech gun, made to look like a German gun, with a sling from India, a Russian scope, and a real K98 bayonet.

I have a nice old weaver .22 scope that I'd like to put on it, to give it more of an authentic sniping rifle look (from a distance), once I find rings that are tall enough for the objective to clear the rear sight. It's a sub 1" tube...

Awesome! At what distance?! I don't have any plans to put an optic on this unless I can find a REALLY old optic that looks authentic for a steal... Local gun shows here I come.

Wow, glad that's a bolt action. I would say a complete take down is needed once a year if shot a lot. Bolt maybe every 5 times out. A lot of parts, simple bolt take down once you do it once and figure it out...

Also watch the wood, pretty soft... I made some good chunks while doing full tear down. Good thing some simple wood stain/scratch remover will work there.

Had it out today, put about 200 through it with 0 issues. Private property no pics taken but it looks like Hicock45 setup its grand.

Small things to notice, the floor plate by the mag. The screw doesn't come up far enough to hold it in... Not a big deal just moves when you are cleaning it.
The front sight post is a dove tail, so adjusting it is crude. Took a while to get it on point, especially with the crooked front sight post... its not 90 degrees so it makes that big front sight post even bigger !
I may grind it down to be thinner and re blue it, yet to be decided on that.

The laminate wood is very soft, dents very easily.

Over all for a cheap plinker I was pretty happy with it. It looks good and is able to hit clays at 50 no issues, and 1 1/2 thick plate at 25 yards no issues either.

Here's a link to the thread I started: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/1233947-Norinco-JW-25A

I put a cheap Barska scope on mine and it shot very well its first time out. Haven't been out since though. And like you, it took me a bit to figure out how to take the bolt apart. How did you adjust your front sight? Mine doesn't seem to want to budge and I'm afraid to force it.

Well, I mean it doesn't look as pretty as it did but this is a cheap bush gun. Some small denting in wood where it was resting. Still a shooter, how I adjusted the front sight was by pure strength.

Tried a soft mallet on the work bench (The rail of the deck) lol. It didn't work to well, grabbed a ball pin hammer and put some cloth over it not to scratch it up to much gave it a whack or two. Once I got it moving it was easier to adjust back and fourth. Very blunt, was getting a 1-2 inch group at 50 yards with those FAT UGLY BIG AND OFF CENTERD iron sights I thought was pretty good. If you look at the rifle it seems like it would be shooting WAY off, but I mean the holes don't lie. Had to knock the sight pretty far to the left.

Picture of the soft wood, it was resting on wood and that is how much damage was done. God hope no one drops one ever will make a mess.

A picture of the UGLY ass iron front sight. So its a dove tail get those hammers out ! It is also not angled properly and has WAY more material on one side then the other. It is pretty damn fat. The fact that I got a 2 inch group on average at 50 was astounding for me.

Indoor range, so 25 metres only...

Also - why are you guys needing to tear down the bolt?

Don't know about yours but mine was filled with a heavy packing grease/oil.

Pretty much, a complete tear down of every firearm before use should be done. This one was packed full of grease... I mean FULL... I will likely do it again after 1000 rounds... Its a good habit and gives a good view on parts. I like to keep my firearms in good condition.
