7.62x51 Nato

Left is Boxer Hirt, right is Berdan. '79 and on should be Boxer and look like the right one but have 2 stars on either side if the case head. I'm surprised the wood crates are not marked with an indication of priming.

Based on above and my image below, it looks like mine are Berdan. Can anyone confirm?

A quick google search on several sites produced this. No idea how accurate it is.

Austria, '74, [ HP ], Berdan,
Austria, '75, [ HP ], Berdan,
Austria, '78, [ HP ], Berdan,
Austria, '79, [ *79* ], Boxer,
Austria, '80, [ *80* ], Boxer,

Well this is unpleasant. I was going to buy this ammo to eventually reload. But from what I have read reloading Berdan primed ammo is a pain in the neck. So unless I am sure of getting boxer primed ammo I will sadly have to pass on this great deal.

Is there a difference in felt recoil or accuracy based on what primer type?
If I get Either one I'll save both (sorted) and whoever wants can have them (pay shipping).

Reading up on this ammo tells me the brass is very good quality and worth the extra work in making any Berdan you get into Boxer. Once you get set up to do so, it doesn't look all that bad.

74 is berdan, just pulled a bullet, 2 little holes, they came in 3 X 240 package, look like BL-c2 boatail bullet, very thick case( kind Lapuaish ), look like a top quality round... JP.

Don't understand why, this is great ammo at a great price, shoot, discard, buy more.

My case is HP 74 IV as well. Just out of curiosity, what does the "IV" stand for?

Very happy with this purchase and can't wait to get to the range, thanks Johnone.

*Edit, didnt realize this was a 'Marstar' Forum. Sorry guys.
Marstar is awesome and I will continue to purchase items from them.
Just trying to help out fellow CGN'ers.
