If someone wants to start a "new" .22lr shortage thread feel free.....

Sounds like a bitter dude. I wouldn't invite him back to any party I was having. lol To some people, only "serious" shooting matters...which I don't get. I mostly AM a fairly "serious" shooter by that definition...but sometimes, it's fun to bowl-over soup cans...watch frozen apples explode...shoot steel targets hundreds of times just to hear them go "PING" :) I'm guessing that guy at the party wouldn't approve. lol

I'm doing OK for ammo supply, and it's the stuff I like to shoot most. I don't like the climate we're in...but part of every week involves a couple of phone calls, a couple of emails...see who has what, and for how much. (local, I hate having ammo shipped) Keep at it, you'll find good stuff.

As for starting a new thread~any thread title that is lacking the words; "PROVE IT" is fine with me. :)

Exactly! What happened to just having fun with your toys? Even more important when you're trying to introduce friends to it. Some people are just buzzkills, nothing can be done about it.

Exactly! Punching 1K of 22LR down range in an afternoon is great fun. The two of us worked a shooting tree for hours with 10/22s, then we had our 9mm carbines out and a bouncing target ball. We spray painted some zone lines on the ground, and had battles to get it into the other guys score area. Good clean safe fun!

Burning 22 or any ammo on a rifle range for me gets boring after the second ten round mag but a pasture full of gophers? I could shoot 10,000 rounds/day if 1, I could afford to and 2, the pasture held enough gophers to burn 10,000 rounds/day.......those buggers are just plain fun to whack all day long with the old 22.....:)

The same thing that's happening to 22lr is happening to bacon. The price went up and the packaging got smaller. Now THAT is an outrage.

I call it the Baconspiracy theory- Used to be a pound (450-500gm) pack was 3.99- then 4.99- then $5.99- then they went down to 375 gm and kept the same price- and I'm supposed to be "happy" when it goes on sale for $4.99/375gm??? The baconspirators and 22LR manufacturers just don't want us to be happy. First Bob Hope died, then Johnny Cash, then Steve Jobs died too- no Hope, No Cash, and no Jobs, we must protect Kevin Bacon!!!

OMG that is too Laugh2Laugh2Laugh2

I haven't been able to find any 22 ammo in my town (or even the next town over) in about a year and a half! I'm still ok with the ammo I've got for awhile now. But rest assured, once some ammo shows up on the shelves here, I'll buy at least 2 cases! It sucks not being able to shoot the amount we are used to. Having to skip the odd weekend just to make the ammo last. Just my rant guys, thanks for listening and it makes me feel better. Good shooting to everybody, Toni.

Tons of it down in south ont as well.

I'm in Southern Ontario. Not tons of it around here. However, some people feel that the existence of Winchester Bulk Pack or Remington Bucket-o-bullets in the LGS to be the end of the "drought". I've been able to find that stuff, supply almost uninterrupted, the whole time. It's the good ammo that's been difficult to impossible to find. I still have the same box of Winchester bulk 22 I've had for a year. Don't have a single gun that shoots is accurately. I did buy a nice Cooey 39 in recent months and with my older eyes...and the open sights...I fool myself into thinking I'm shooting the Winchester well on close range targets. At least I'm using it up. :)

In the last year or so, the ONLY CCI brick I was able to buy off a shelf was Quiet-22 at my LGS. Other than that..I've picked-up a little on the EE....and driven 45 minutes to Cabela's from time to time...knowing they can only officially sell me two boxes at a time.

The shortage is nearing its end, first time in a long time that i've seen some staked on the shelves...but like others have said...the prices are too steep still. Prices around do increase I agree, but they don't triple like .22lr prices have.

Windsor Canadian tire stores give you 5 or 6 option s at each location and shelfs are full. GG has more brand options than CT. In the last 3 years I have been shooting 22 there has always been lots of options.

PM me, you buy it an pay shipping and I'll get you what ever quantity you want if people are getting despite

Feel like I won the lottery today. My CT app said Federal 525 Value Pack in stock so went right away. Nothing on the shelves. Kid says we are sold out. I said my app says otherwise. He gets a second kid over. He looks in all the shelves while first kid checks computer. Both say no sorry mister there isn't any. I said well the app is usually current? Manager happens by, asks the kids what they are looking for, he turns to me says we havent had those in months. I show him my app. He looks puzzled, goes to his computer and says yes one box in stock. Goes to the shelves, gets right down on the floor, reaches way back and comes out with one box! Woohoo! Insistence paid off!! Wish it had been a case but oh well better than going home empty handed. At least it replaces the last brick burned up gophering a month or so ago.

That happened a few times to me as well at CT, not just for ammo either.

I've stopped buying it as a result... fuc em! I buy it from my local meat packers instead. tastes better too actually! the other day i saw off brand bacon with stickers on it proclaiming how it's still 500 g.

same is true for cheese and lots of other items. They think it's fair to raise the price and also shrink the volume... they are stealing from us I say.

It is not the retailers who are stealing from you.

Inflation is a direct and necessary consequence of central banking. It is a tax, designed on purpose with only one goal in mind.

"By this means government may secretly and unobserved, confiscate the wealth of the people,
and not one man in a million will detect the theft." — John Maynard Keynes

Le Baron markham had two 1000-round bricks of m22 in stock for $62.45 each. with their 10% member discount it came to $56.20. its a pretty good deal IMO. i bought their last two.

having lots of trouble finding a CT near the toronto area that sells aguila though.

Cabela's in Edmonton Windermere has a ton of CCI Shorts on the shelf that nobody wants. I could shoot them out of my Mossberg 352KB for a laugh I guess.
