Looking for glass to top off my setup. It will be going on a Remington 700 5r in .308 and mounted on badger rings and base, looking to push out past the 1000 yard mark so I'm looking at scopes within the 800-1300 range,1500 at most. Been really looking at the sightron 6-24 FFP but would like some insight to see if there are any better out there for the money.

Thanks for any info and help

Its tough to beat Sightron for the money. I doubt its possible.

If you want to push far past the 1000 yard mark with a 308 then stick with the 6-24x50 Sightrons for their massive elevation travel. 80moa for the FFP and 100moa for the SFP.

Watch the EE and you can pick up 6-24x50 SFP Sightrons for $800-900.

Since the price increase on the Vortex making it in line or more expensive than Sightron, I'd say go with Sightron.

Scopes don't look fantastic, but other than the stiff parallax they function very well. Some complain about limited reticles, but the one they have is very good.

That is what's stopping me from looking at them. They seem to be only going after the F class shooter.

I'm leaning towards the sightron FFP. Amazon has them for 920usd which is about 1150 Canadian which is just under 1300 tax in. Havnt found one for under that in Canada. Would go with vortex if my budget was tighter but from what I hear sightron beats them out slightly with optic clarity which is a biggy for me. Also thanks for all the help and insight on this everyone.

RogyBear, if you plan on buying it in the states from Amazon, you may have problems bringing it across. It needs an export permit as it is over $100.

I've been using a nightforce shv 4-14 x56 out to 600 yards and back to 100 for a short while now, has worked great for me. oh this is on a .223

I have Burris XTR II 5-25x50. Gen II . SCR MiL on order due to arrive this Summer. There is $100 rebate until Aug.31st. The glass is much improved. Initially tracking testing is spot on. FFP. Illuminated. Zero Stop. 2nd turn indicator. 10 Mils per revolution. Lifetime Warranty. Ordered through PlainSightSolutions. My second choice would have been Sightron but Illuminated reticle was deal sealer....because will be used for hunting and at 5 power OR at dawn or dusk reticle is going to be pretty fine....

Just add rebate is $100....and at 10 Mils per revolution getting to 1000 yards will be easy with .308.
