Hello;
I recently acquired a lightly used CZ 452 Varmint, it came with a DIP extended rail and Yodave trigger. I like the the rail and trigger and have a Sightron SII 6-24 x 42 scope on the way. However I just installed a new Boyds Pro Varmint stock and managed to break one of the delicate CZ wood screws in the process. DIP INC makes a nice set of replacement screws, but unfortunately does not ship to Canada. Does anyone know of a Canadian source of replacement action screws similar to DIP or know of any Canadian DIP dealers? Feel free to chime in with any other CZ advice, etc.

Here is my CZ wearing a spare Simmons 3x9 until the Sightron arrives

The Pro Varmint stock fits my large hands much better than the CZ stock. My trigger finger would rub on the bolt knob with the CZ stock, but with a lower hand position, the PV provides about 1/4" or more of clearance.

Cheers

J and P gunsprings ships to Canada. I've ordered a bunch of hex head screws and some various springs. Great to deal with, takes about 8 days.

Thanks Steve!
They don't seem to have the wood screws listed, although they do refer to them on the website. I have sent them an e-mail asking about the availability of the wood screws.

Nice Rifle!

I just purchased another 452 Varmint and a 452 Scout for my 11 year old son last week. Don't know why I purchased a second 452 Varmint; I just knew that they weren't in production anymore and came across it in my search for a Scout. I am very impressed with the quality of the CZ 452 Varmint that I figured having a second one wouldn't be a bad thing. How is that for rationalizing my purchase? ;)

Regards,

Chizzy

You did the right thing.

I find it very comfortable, but it is significantly heavier and slightly bulkier than the the CZ stock. Great for bench use, maybe not so great for field use.

That is the perfect reason why I HAD to purchase a second one. (I can keep it stock and light! :))

Here is the first one.......

It is a Hooper Ordnance bolt. I am not sure if they are still in operation as my last correspondence went unanswered.

Thanks *lawrence!
Kinney's was great to deal with. I ordered the DIP 4 piece action screw set, extended mag release and heavier firing pin spring. $78 US shipped :)

I had to order 3 of the heavier DIP firing pin springs, but I figured I can sell the spares on the EE easily enough. J&P would have been slightly cheaper but they are out of stock on the wood screws and don't offer the extended mag release.

Don I see your building up a precision shooter for the range.Would like too see how it shoots and compare it too my Markii's.I still know were to find a 452 NIB.Pm me when you want to meet up at the range.

One of the dealers at the Hanna gun show had 3 452 varmints. A buddy bought 1 ($550) and it was hard not to get one myself. I have to many 22s and need to clean out the ones that do not get shot. I cant wait for a range report as he has a 455 V with the evolution stock. I like that Boyds stock. It would be hard in the gopher patch though.

range report

Just received an email with 2 targets. 452 V .37; 455V .35, all benched at 50 yards. Both models are excellent and shoot better than me. I think I will clean out some queens and get one. Not sure why - but I can ;)
