Fabsports just got an order in, all kinds of great goodies from KIDD... bolts, buffers, pins, springs, charging handles/rods, all kinds of good stuff....

impossible to get in this country.. i already put my order in so its safe for the rest of you now that i got what i want lol.

prices are decent too.

Dlask had had most of that for months... I just bought an Ultralight barrel and single stage trigger pack.

beat you to it, by a few years haha...That KIDD two stage trigger...it's incredible, I got one...but the price...its right at the edge of not being worth it for me...I wouldn't mind having a KIDD receiver to complete the build and have a 100% kidd rifle...but they never have any.

dlask doesnt sell KIDD anymore, theyre selling their own knockoff parts which may be just as good or maybe not, nobody can tell.

when buying stuff like bolts, rods, spring sets etc, its brands like POWER CUSTOM, KIDD, TIMNEY etc who do it best,.. DLASK doesnt like selling kidd, i emailed them several times and spoke with them, they have some basics like a barrel, but prefer their own internal brand, and they dont have any kind of testing or branding or whatever to establish quality for the pricing.

I used power custom for my bolt (titanium, chromed etc), and timney for the trigger group with extended mag release.

I needed the spring set for ammo types and cycle rate, and the cool charging handle... and the KIDD set is known good quality, colour coded etc.

Sometimes you just want the real thing.... i wasnt comfortable taking the risk on DLASK brand... although I do love their maple leaf charging handle... they wouldnt even tell me what the guide rod is made of, its tolerances etc... basic specs.

Real brands have full information, lots of data... I like to know if its Aluminum, hardened tool steel, titanium, stainless steel, etc... and the DLASK ppl i talked to just werent interested in my measly $600 worth of business....

my SR22 is almost a $3,000 package now i think... including its case and extra mags that mostly still dont work cuz i have the old stock spring in there ####ing up my cycle rate.

You'd think Dlask would have been kissing my a$$ when i came to them, given everything i wanted in there but i couldnt even get the grades of stainless or aluminum they were using... or any comparative information...

my timney supplier is nicer to me for my occasional $175 orders from them, than dlask was when i was looking to drop $1500 on SR22 gear in one go.

Your new at this aren't you. I have been using Tony's products since he started selling them, as well as Joe Dlask's... not to mention VQ, RT, GM, WP, TS, Shilen, EABCO etc... after dozens of build's, I can tell you that Joe's products are the equal of any of them... and he does sell Kidd parts, as I said I just bought them.

Dlask "IS" a brand... as much as Kidd or Volquartsen... they are just a newer brand...

Years ago, I bought a barrel from one of Tony Kidd's first commercial batches... people back then called them "knock-off junk"... now everyone, including yourself, is kissing Tony's azz.

i dont know squat about barrels, because a company does one thing well doesnt mean they do everything well.
and not for every model.
TIMNEY makes a lousy TAVOR trigger group but epic for mosins and rugers.

im smart, and I go to expert level on every piece.

I dont know much about dlask, and theyre new like you said, and they were totally unwilling to earn my large dollar purchases. No data, no help, no customer service, just junk communcation like they thought they didnt have to "sell" their product as long as they just stopped selling other peoples.

KIDD makes the best springs and rods and whatnot for the SR22 on the market... their trigger group is as good as timney, some prefer it... i figure theyre equivalent.

What makes the difference isnt who the guy behind it is, but how they run their business.

KIDD in america helpfully referred me to two suppliers in canada and fabsports was very helpful, just had to wait for their order to come in. KIDD also provides full information on the materials and structure of their products... unlike dlask.

SMART people like information to make informed choices.

I would have bought everything from dlask if there was more information available and they weren't mostly useless at communicating.

If i needed a barrel i'd start barrel specific research.

For what I need... I have the best available that I know of...

DLASK needs to do some improvement. Maybe time in the market and a little practice with people.

If you cant answer simple questions and be helpful to customers, you don't earn business from high value clients... you just scoop business from joe blow idiot.

If you tried contacting them, you know they only answer the phones from noon until 4 pm... because they are swamped... because they are having a hard time keeping production with demand... because people are clamouring for their products... because their products are excellent and at an excellent price... ergo; they don't have to promote.

Of course every company at some point broadens their infrastructure to match demand... but in the growth years many things get missed in the flurry...

Joe Dlask and his people have been excellent with me over the years... great products and great CR...

I had been waiting for months for a Kidd black scalloped bolt. I was even considering buying one in the States and sneaking it into Canada. I placed my order yesterday with Fabrice and cannot wait!

I have a Dlask barrel and receiver and they look really sharp. I don't like the fact that they don't give a lot of product info on their website, but if you email them your questions they will answer pretty quickly. As I mentioned in another thread, I'm sure the Dlask bolts are just as good as the Kidd ones, but the Kidd ones look much, much nicer.

i got my responses via email, and let them know that i was trying to figure out what to buy because there was little info about their goods, but that i wanted to buy locally if possible... i asked clear questions and gave them an opportunity to inform me, but theyre too busy i guess, their loss in this case. I will forever remember that kind of attitude and how i took my money to established brands that perform flawlessly without question. total piece of mind.

I have no idea if the kidd bolts are as good as dlask, kidd published their material construction, engineering tolerances, and precise measurements from stock. DLASK doesnt publish any info at all, they could be anyhting, most consumers would never know the difference, but i do.

Dlask might even have a superior product. it doesnt matter, they only get business because they are available in a restricted market.

if kidd/timney was available openly here, dlask would get wrecked by them.. or theyd have to up their game to compete.

it leads me to suspect that dlask produces good LOOKING products, that work, at a fair price.

any company filling a niche in canada will be successful to a point. it doesnt say anything about the products... other than "i put them in, they work and look nice".

smart consumers want to know more.

So i'm glad i went KIDD.. and even tho Fabsports is in quebec, they answered my email within 1 business day, with detailed information, in good english, politely. I knew immediately what was available and links were provided with more info.

Painless, and professional.

If Dlask had spent 5 more minutes on me and been more forthcoming, id have spent thousands there.

Instead, I suggest at this time people find KIDD, PowerCustom, and Timney products and use them because they're amazing, don't cost MUCH more, and you can count on them.

Maybe Dlask is the same, who knows... I like to shop local, but only if the company wants my business.

and a very large disposable income.
high value clients smell different than the random buyers who dont care/know anything:)

I literally asked them to let me know the specifics about their products that i'd like to order, and explain to me what criteria establish them as equal or better than the major brands i was considering, all they had to do was teach me/tell me about their stuff... literally the very thing any company needs to do to sell... and i'dve dropped a mint there.

the attitude was "we don't need to tell you people anything, just shut up and buy our stuff, details arent important, theyre good cuz i say so".

nobody worth doing business with gives that impression.

i regularly deal with the owners/chief engineers at source manufacturers for companies i deal with like eezox, archangel, and now kidd.. as well as others in unrelated fields (like tech, chemical products, manufactured goods). Their sales reps and technical people are very helpful and they reap the rewards of my significant promotional ability as well as my repeat business.

I guess i'm just sad that a canadian company like Dlask isnt smart enough to do the same.

"we're the only local stuff and we are in stock, just buy it, you dont need to know about it".

nuh-uh. No sir.

I deal with him up front. He has a small basement buisness in an appartment complex opened only a few hours on saturdays, its took me a few tries to actually find the place. He and his collegue are 10/22 fans for sure. Nothing like true fans for salesman. Lsst week at the range opened my eyes to the difference between a good Kidd 10/22 and a stock semi auto... we put clothespins and empty 30-06 shells at 50y and the other guy took 10 shots to clip his first pin, for me it was one shot per pin...boring actually..should have tried 100y.

My experiences with Dlask have been the polar opposite of yours... Joe has taken more time and gone out of his way more than was even reasonable for me to ask of him... and I have complete confidence in his products.

I just completed the build pictured below today... just one of dozens.

All parts except for the stock and RT charging handle are from Dlask, including the Kidd Single Stage Trigger Group and Kidd Lightweight barrel. Dlask DAR22 receiver, Dlask bolt, Dlask V-Block, Dlask pins/bolt.

Nice build, great parts, Canadian made... NO drama (queen)...

Peace out...

I don't know about you, but when I look at the products that Flask makes for the 10/22 it has a description that includes the materials they are made of, ie. Receivers "It was designed to fit in any 10-22 type stock and it will accept all factory internal parts of the 10/22 Ruger rifle, with little or no fitting. Precision CNC machined out of 7075-T6 aluminum billet and Mil-spec, Type 3, hard anodized black.". Or barrels "Dlask barrels are made from quality 4140 barrel blanks that are precision reamed, button rifled and air gauged. The .22 long rifle barrel features a Sporter Chamber and target style crown."

Just about the same amount of info as Kidd has for their receivers.

perhaps they didnt bother answering his questions fully because he seems to be unable to read the information himself on their website.

i agree with others here, dlask has been great for me. the only complaint i have about any of their products is that they dont exactly have a selection of non-threaded barrels, i wish they had a rear tang option, and i wish their charging handles and bolts were more aesthetically pleasing. i love the look of the scalloped bolts and the kill charging handles. as for quality, i have seen the kidd charging handles right beside a dlask one and there is no difference that i can feel at all. both operate smoothly. the bolts are almost an exact carbon copy of one another.

Nice. What stock is that?

3000$ and makes it that much better?

Im into mine for a 1/4 that.... And mine goes bang bang every time.
