Savage 10TR le/military

i read in col. townseed wheelen's old article in G&A that the charge used at fort brenning at the time was 39 grains of 3031 under a sierra 168 boat tail in a 1:10 barrel, it was kept confidential so that the russians would not get hold of it before the olympic matches... it would be common to get 2.5 inch 30 shot groups at 300!! little piece of history...got to find some 3031 for some testing.

new stock complete!! That is the sierra precision SPR AR 15 grip, it perfect. The stock is solid AL with polymer sides the butstock is machined from a block of AL...the ergonomics are incredible, no comparison with the OEM stock. The balance of the rifle with the bipod is right in front of the mag well. Good job MDT!

Considering the same stock for mine... how is the action with this shorter buttstock? Do you have to remove the stock everytime you want to remove the bolt???

it's all right there in the second pic, the bolt release is that hole above the trigger, you just stick a small tool like an Allan key in there and pull back. the mag release is that latch between the mag and the trigger, you push and it releases the mag. This is MDT polymer mag but it takes AI mags too. This mag is made of thick polymer, consequently my longer OAL bullets optimized for my rifle will not fit, maybe they will fit in the AI.

edit: scratch that...the 155 gr match burners dont fit but the 168gr SMKs do just fine...checked just now.

I didn't notice that, I just tried it and all is in line. I just got the final component (the grip) yesterday so no I havent shot with it yet. If there is one thing I would have liked more it is to have a little more clearance between the stock and the grip. I have pretty thick hand, so it wedges tight between the grip and the stock...not really a big deal but with gloves, I might have to change that grip.

Well just waiting on a scope (one in the pics was just so I could shoot it)
Savage 10TR 24"
Lantac dragon brake
Seekins srs rail
Atlas bipod
Tab gear sling
Ken Ferell 20MOA rail
Karsten cheek piece
Shaved about 60lbs off the gun by changing to a more traditional tactical knob :)

Other than a scope I am just waiting for trigger tech to release there savage trigger and I'll be all set. I was going to purchase a chassis but the gun shoots so good factory and I was able to fix the minor problems I had with it. It just doesn't get shot enough to justify the cost of a new stock. Other than missing out on the rebate (didn't know about it) I am happy for the money invested.

Been gone for a while, but back in May this year, a few pals took me with them to shoot out to a grand (1,050m). I brought my 700 and my 10TR, and broke my 1k cherry on both rigs. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics:

My 700:

I had a hard time getting my Bushnell G-Force DX ARC to get a solid reading (which is supposed to be good out to 1300 yards) but maybe it was just user error. I found it even getting a solid reading at 913m:

I managed to shoot this image however could not get a reading with mine. We ended up using someone else' and got a reading of 1,050m but it was hard to take a picture so I binned it:

A three round group I managed using 10TR using 168gr Atomic loaded Noslers.

I was also able to make hits with factory 175gr SMKs out of my 700.

And here's some 10TR #### with a decent camera:

is that a bushnell elite tac? I just ordered a new barrel, 26 in. shilen select match bull barrel with the 11 deg crown...next step is the scope...going all out on the scope, not sure which one yet though...might take a year to gather the dinero...but I want no regrets.

Looks like a Millet LRS.

Yep, Bushy on the 700 and a Millett on the 10TR, both capable of helping me make 1k hits.
