I knew I hated .22 for a reason

So I bought a brand new chiappa little badger .22lr for my wife. Took it out today and what do ya know. Light primer strike on the very first shot. Cocked the hammer again cause I like to live dangerously. Bang. it shoots. I had to do this for every single round. I tried 10 times. 5 times with federal bulk, 5 times with Remmington bulk. When I buy a brand new gun fresh out of the box. I expect the damn thing to work every time I pull the trigger. What gives?

Buy a better gun. The little badger is ugly as sin. And Chiappa rimfires have never been associated with the highest of quality

Wife's not an avid shooter like my self. And she shoots left handed. This is what she wanted. It's "cute".

Actually I found if you recocked the hammer after firing then opened the action to change rounds when you reclose it and pull the trigger it will do a light strike and not fire every time. If you recock the hammer and pull the trigger again it will fire. Yet if you don't #### the hammer before opening the action it will fire properly every time. Just a quirk of this firearm. This is what may be happening in your case. I love the Little Badger. It is the one .22 of all mine that gets the most use. I have fired hundreds of rounds no problem.

Also make sure the pivot screw is tight I had mine come loose. I put some locktite on it and it hasn't loosened again. If it comes loose it may appear to open and close normally but it could affect the strikes on the primer.

Someone told me to shave a bit of the firing pin to make a point instead of the flat head it has

I have this gun and love it. Accurate, light, good quality and cheap... however this issues had popped up multiple times before on CGN threads about this rifle. It does not happen with mine, perhaps I got lucky, I think its a great .22 for under $200!

However, this is a serious issue with it, I am always worried it may start to happen with mine and lost a bit of faith in Chiappa do to this. Honestly if I got one that operated that way I would return it.

Ah, I read your post again and see it is not the "slam fire" issue... which is the common problem... overall the rifle appears to suffer from some issues with the hammer . Watch out for slam fires too

Crappy little gun... not the fault of .22 LR as a cartridge. I'm sure the problem can be fixed... BUT not by pointing the firing pin.

I have little badger with several thousand rounds through it. I've run co, Remington, Winchester, etc. It's failed to go bang exactly twice.

I agree with previous poster, you got a lemon, exchange it.

Guess I'll return it and get a cz.

Getting a CZ is never a bad decision.

I also agree with this. I've never had any trouble with my LB, been quite reliable and fun, and fairly accurate to boot. But every manufacturer turns out a lemon every now and then.
