Checked in with the local BassPro and was told when existing stocks of gun powder is depleted no more will be stocked. The reason being that the powder they were bringing in was directly from BassPro US and did not have French labeling. BassPro corp has no interest in supporting local Canadian distributors so will no longer offer this product line.

OR maybe it's time Canadians suport Canadian buinesses. As far as I'm consernd any store that will not support other Canadian buinesses should pack up all there s&%t and go back to where they came from.

So how do you feel about companies like Bombardier, that were selling to foreigners for less than they were selling to Canadians, even when the dollars were on par? No I don't blame Bass Pro one bit for not caving to the idiots demanding bilingual labels. This bilingual crap costs Canadians a great deal of money to support.

So you're selling off all of your firearm related equipment that's not Canadian made, you know, to support Canadian business?

What are you talking about?? Nobody said anything about being Canadian made. The point is Canadian buiness have to follow the rules so what should make Bass Pro so speacial that they think they shouldn't have to? For those that don't understand it's basically called a level playing field. All you guys are right about it is nonsence that everything has to be labeled in two languaged but those are the rules and every retailer should have to follow the same set of rules no matter how stupid they are. Then all you guys sit here and wonder why our dollar is so low and why everything here cost so much.

All it would require is a sticker. They have no problem having separate CDN dollar stickers on products. Seems lame.

Cheap excuse for Bass Pro..Its been like this for years and they knew the rules before they landed here to scoop Canadian dollars. Just looking to blame anybody but themselves.

The real point is that no company should have to put up with this bilingual nonsense.

I agree, completely ridiculous that one province equals a nationwide language that rest of the provinces don't even speak let alone read.

well we all know who and what political party was responsible for that now don't we.

I think the companies should have a choice, whether they want to sell to French communities or not, however, it isn't hard to slap a sticker on a tub of powder! At least half the provinces have French speaking communities but most are bilingual. No matter let's see if Cabela's has a sticker machine in their back room. I am buying powder now wherever I can find the kind I want, stocking up a bit, as I think if the Lieberals or dippers get in,, they are going after the ammo and supplies as much as the guns!

Totally agree ! They want to leave so badly, so why the hell are we stilling making their language a national language, when its only spoken by self centered people who think they are more important than anyone else !

I certainly can't blame Bass Pro, it's time to put an end to this bilingual nonsense.

Oh... Bilingualism. It does cost a lot of money, this much is true.

When heritage and culture conflicts with free speech and open market. Which one wins out?

This reminds me when Quebec City demanded that Red Bull change their name to something more french appropriate for the Crashed Ice races. Red Bull simply reminded Quebec City that they didn't HAVE to hold their event in Quebec City. One of the few times a company has won against the french police.

I think a company should only be regulated by what gives them good business. If they want to shun the french speaking populace, well... that's their prerogative. We just have a rule in place that lumps the rest of the country in with that populace.

I do find it to be a little bit of a cheap excuse though... and it seems a little too convenient considering they just gave up on a store in Ottawa and didn't they just recently have a little exportation issue?
