Steyr Scout Stainless Steel Canadian .308Win

I wonder with the demand if steyr will produce more of these?

I believe much of the demand is due to the relative rarity of this rifle and the fact they were built for the Canadian Rangers; take those elements away by mass production for the regular market and the niche cool quality of this fine rifle is lost to some degree.

Saying that I'm sure they would sell, just not as quickly as when they are as rare and in such limited quantity.

Cheers D

I think this assessment is spot on. Given its price point, the regular Steyr Scout is already a niche rifle. I think the "one time" nature of these Canadian Ranger trials rifles was the primary reason some (many) of the purchasers would have opted to spend the money when they would otherwise remain on the side lines. That's not to take anything away from the regular Steyr Scout, which is a great rifle in its own right.

So for those who decided to purchase one of these rifles, are you planning to scope it, and if so, what will you use?

Caramel, do you think the Bushnell 6500 with 6 inches of eye relief will allow it to sit in front of the rear sight? If not, it looks like keeping a LER/scout scope would be the right way to go, rather than switching to high rings or a riser.

I will start with the Diopters then i will have a couple of choices, i have an lightly used S&B 1X8X24 PMll Shortdot and one BNIB 6500 1.25X8X32 with the 6 inch eye relief, those are sweet, one of my Scout is mounted with one... JP.

having a regular scout here to compare, you have 3 choices.

High mounts that put the scope over the sights, remove the sights and use regular height mounts (best option IMO), Or use a forward mounted scout scope and likely have interference issues with the sight picture from the sights.

Could there be another run of these rifle variations if there was enough interest? I was certainly too slow for the last one at both dealers, but the longer sight plane - and drum sight - appeal to me greatly.

In fact, the drum sight could probably use either a wider aperture, or V notch, for the 100 yard mark...
