Hey gang!! new here, looking for a neat and nifty black rifle

kacsr15, kacsr25, hk mr223

I never understood why people are not fond of black rifles, it shoots a bullet same as other rifles...

i wouldnt mind adding a kac to my collection, but the appropriation comittee is on hyatus till 2017

I've never really been a fan of KAC rifles. You can get something of pretty much equal value like a Smith & Wesson M&P15 for a third of the price. Sure it isn't "milspec", but there are things about the US Military Milspec requirements that are pretty bogus anyways and I doubt the average shooter will be using his AR-15 enough for the milspec requirements to really matter anyways. No offense intended to those that are really into milspec rifles, they're pretty cool and all and I certaintly wouldn't pass up owning one myself, just not for three times the price for a product thats very similar in value and style.

well you got a lot more than just mil-spec when buying a kac.
All my ARs are milspec, colt 6920, cc sa15.7 and my cc noveske mix. all milspec but they each shoot quite differently
 
I'm having a good run with my x39 XCR. I'd buy again.
Mine's late gen2, railed, heavy barrel. It's been used and abused, with intent;), for a little over 16,000 rounds.
My ammo choice is whatever cheapest surplus is available.
My cleaning regiment is weak but I flush the salts after every use, and lube.
It's not a bench rifle, but accurate enough to be my deer rifle again this season.
I've also competed with it, and will again.
I broke it twice, the op-rod cracked and the hammer spring broke. Both times, the gun still ran.
The XCR isn't the best at anything, but mines been good at everything.


With all that said, I cannot recommend this rifle. There's been too many reports, mostly from a guy with a friend, that this rifle isn't reliable, nor accurate enough to hit a barn from the inside.

That's a pretty good statement there. I've owned and shot a lot of the non restricted black rifles, and I would agree with that. My XCR's weren't the best, but they certainly were good, and I really liked them. I had a 223 and 6.8.

You can get a corvette (decent AR) that will do most everything a Ferrari (high end KAC AR) will do at a third the price, but if you've ever driven a Ferrari you'd know why it's 3x more expensive then the Vette (and to the Vette fans, yes I'm aware how capable the new Vette is).
The superior experience of operating the higher end product rules over the cost savings (providing you can afford the buy-in) even if they maintain some what similar performance parameters.

Also their is a prestige factor along with a positive investment factor that come as benefits with the higher end products. KAC's like Ferrari's depreciate little over the long term if cared for properly and who doesn't want to own the best.

Just trying to come up with an analogy that could help to understand why a higher end AR would make for a good choice.

However you have stated you don't yet possess a RPal, so in that case get a NR Swiss Arms rifle Classic Green/Black Special (under $5,000 tax-in) and don't look back.

Yet if I were in your shoes I'd get my RPal asap and purchase a Colt Canada SA15.7 asap with a nice Elcan 1x-4x optic along with several ATRS 10Rd. pistol mag.'s and a case of quality ammo (which should all come in under $6,000+/-) then get to shooting it.

Without a RPAL I would suggest you either look at a Swiss Arms or the Tavor. Both are fine NR black rifles.

The XCR are pretty nice too, though it seems the guys at the matches are constantly having to fiddle with them to keep them running smooth. You can ALWAYS tell the XCR shooters as they're the guys with Allen keys in their kit!

Every KAC owner will tell you that you are quite wrong, not out of pride of ownership, but out of the satisfactions/appreciations we have for kac's sheer quality - reliability, balance, smoothness.
I have owned and still own other brands, they all have their places in my safe, but the KAC is without a doubt, the queen of them all.

First get your RPAL and an AR. Everyone should have one :)
KAC are extremely nice rifles.
I'm very happy with my Daniel Defense M4V5.

I just recently got my ACR I'm really liking it so far.

With that kind of coin I'd got with the ATRS Modern Hunter, but that's just me. I also own a Tavor, and love that thing and hope to reek havoc on the coyote pupulation this year.

As for NR and 7.62x39mm, Either a VZ-58/CZ-858 or a XCR with the 7.62x39mm barrel/bolt kit, which pops up on the EE every once in a while. Someone else mentioned a Ruger Mini 30 which is the 7.62 version of the Mini 14, but they're expensive for what you get.

You also always just buy two and a hald crates of SKS's and call it a day.

You could try contacting Herron Arms since they do many NR conversions with the ACR and are an excellent choice for a NR barrel set-up, they may even have a lead for finding a model with the 7.62x39 calibre.

Website says that you can change barrels, but I cant find any infomation
On it in canada. The only one I was able to find was restricted and 223 rem :(

I have about $5500.00 to 6000.00 dollars I would be willing
To spend on a rifle. So these are all great options.
