To my knowledge they are illegal to everyone, but I have read on the forums people staying their companies owning suppressors. So my question is if you become a licensed firearms manufacturer, are you able to manufacture suppressors for the testing of your rifles. Are there any ways to obtain a permit other then Leo-military for suppressors? Thanks
Felipe

Doesn't matter... other than testing where do you think you'd be allowed to use them...
The one guy I know who designs/manufactures suppressors can only do it for gov't agencies anyway. They're his only clients.

Firearm Act article 11.(2)?

Prohibited firearms, weapons, devices and ammunition — businesses
11. (1) A business that is otherwise eligible to hold a licence is not eligible to hold a licence authorizing the business to possess prohibited firearms, prohibited weapons, prohibited devices or prohibited ammunition except as provided in this section.

Prescribed purposes
(2) A business other than a carrier is eligible to hold a licence authorizing the business to possess prohibited firearms, prohibited weapons, prohibited devices or prohibited ammunition if the business needs to possess them for a prescribed purpose.

Carriers
(3) A carrier is eligible to hold a licence authorizing the carrier to possess prohibited firearms, prohibited weapons, prohibited devices or prohibited ammunition.

So the business applies for the licence and satisfies the CFO's requirements.

I'm assuming if my theoretical rifle building business was on the same land as my house and test range, I'd be able to shoot w/ cans everyday.. Correct me if I'm wrong..

Several years ago I had an RCMP ask if I could make a suppressor for a .22. I said I could but I would need a letter from him placing an order and then I would have to apply for the licensing. Never heard another word from him...

When I worked for a company that rented guns to the movies, we had a few shelves full of them. A single person for privet use is a no-no, but for a legitimate business use its fine provided you have applied for a business license. Essentially forget about it. If you just want one for photos, there are a bunch of people making muzzle brakes that look like them.

A couple of years ago I ran into an exterminater at the range. I was shooting my AR. We got on subject of suppressors . He said he had one and was " licensed" to use it on the job.

These things should be reclassified to allow for hunting and range use. It can only keep the general population happy that surround hunting and shooting areas.

You can use a pillow as a suppressor legally, just hold it over then end of the barrel. I suggest memory foam!
Unless it is a pillow that is designed or intended to muffle the report of a firearm. I'll ask at Sleep Country if they have any pillows not designed or intended to muffle the report of a firearm. Why buy a silencer anywhere else?
