Was wondering what the best way is in your opinion to finish a wounded game bird? Ducks, partridge, pheasant, etc. I don't like to let an animal suffer and I also don't want to damage the meat.
Thanks in advance!

Ringing the neck doesn't always work. I am sure we have seen guys spinning birds ĺike helicopters especially geese. A technique I recently used on smaller birds was to hold it in both hands and gently apply pressure around the chest to prevent them from taking in air I find the bird quietly expires like going to sleep in your hand. Also there is no fluttering or blood going all over the place. You can also just bonk them on the head

Bird upside down and knife into the head or grouse more often then not hold it upside down 2 hands around the wings/breast and a swift whack of the back of the head on a hard surfice (rock if not solid tree) knocks em out good.

I wring the necks of all my wounded birds. I know I've done it properly as the head/neck will will separate from the body. On larger birds like Canada Geese if done properly you will feel the neck break, then a couple of more wrings and the head/neck will separate. The only bird I won't do this on anymore is the Sandhill Crane I'll just head shoot them once to finish them off. Those things fight back and go for your eyes lol!
