Well known Canadians who are gunnies

Jason Priestley, who did some ads for the NRA in the 90's. He and 90210 co-star Luke Perry also did some celebrity shooting events back then.
 
Not one of them will say anything, bad for business. Bruce Cockburn is an IPSC shooter, you won't hear him say a word - if his guns are banned, he'll shoot in the US or Europe. Not one of them will rock the boat.
 
How about we convert Justin Trudeau into a gunnie? I'll even contribute my evil SKS and donate it as a present to Justin. We need more liberal gunnies so that they know first hand and not speculate on rumours about "transporting firearms everywhere, even to soccer practice!"

I'm not talking about folks like Mr. Shockey who make their living with them, I'm thinking
of people that could be brought up in discussion with folks to prove we aren't all ignorant rednecks who stomp kittens
and hate everyone but other gunnies.

Phillipe Couillard (Quebec's PM) is a hunter, although he's pro-registry...

I'm pretty sure a lot of politicians must be hunters, maybe secretly :)
 
Bruce Cockburn is a huge gunnie. I worked with him years ago at my studio and I kept seeing copies of guns and ammo everywhere.
 
The thing about celebrities is...they like being celebrities. Once they are no longer in the public spotlight, they'll jump all over causes that will get them back into it. Why do you think so many washed-up celebs are all over the environmentalist green crap? Most don't even really know what they are talking about - they just know it is good for getting public attention.

I think we're onto something here. Pick the right celeb spokesperson, with a thoughtful, light and well-produced TV commercial segment educating the public that the Canadian gun community is a safe one, and it might actually do our hobby a LOT of good. I'd even contribute if it was crowd-funded.
