Got a K31 from wholesale sports for 299$ came with sling and muzzle protector. I was going to leave it alone but I couldn't take looking at the stock with Finnish missing so I refinished it with blo, shellac and a top coat of tung oil finnish that sticks to waxed shellac and is identical to amber shellac in color and feel. I made sure to leave all the nicks and dents by not sanding. Bore is great. I was very tempted to steam it all out and sand but I couldn't do it.

Will you be shooting it with the iron sights? Let us know how it compares to the Mosin at 300 meters, please. I want one to, but only if it
is "much" better than the Mosin at 300 meters which is as far as I want to shoot with irons.

It blows away the Mosin for accuracy. I'm ringing the steel gong at 200m with the irons all day, with some practice 300 is next.

If Canadianbaconpancakes can cut his group in half at 300m with the K31 compared to the Mosin, I will be a convert!

If your looking for accuracy and scope you ever considered a swedish mauser that has been drilled and tapped? I picked one up and mounted a Bushnell 4X fixed with weaver brand rings and rail and at 100 yards here is my group with the first 3 shots. Going to try 200 yards when I get out next. I never even used a proper rest just my hunting backpack on a bench. I imagine with good scope it would be awesome. I was using the high end fusion ammo tho.

That is great shooting! However, I like shooting old milsurps the way they came and it seems I need the "hype" in order to get interested.
Right now that is Mosin versus K31. So....how do you feel about shooting your K31 with iron sights at 300m and then telling us how you did?

It seems that anything Swiss made can shoot! My Swiss 1882 service revolver groups better than most modern handguns at my club.
I have yet to own a K31, but have handled a few, and they are without question well made and sturdy! I'm more of Mauser nut, and I'm drooling over an unfired, unissued Polish M44 still in cosmo, but K31's are also something I can see in my future.

As a side point: Is it that M44 that got changed from $700 to $750 ? I'm looking at that also and hoping the price would change in the other direction.

Careful, once you buy that first one, then comes the second Swiss....then the K11....you'll see. Every time I go to the range, one of my K31's or my K11 comes along - they are just fun to shoot.
