I know, i know, here comes another 1911 thread.

Ive been shooting pistols for about 5 years, been through it all pretty much on semi autos in 9mm, finally found my favorite bestest handgun for me. Now Id love to have a 45acp, and knowing what I know from my 9mm quest, I believe the best frame for me would be a metal 1911.

So I started my new quest about 4 months ago, and I have made little to no progress so far.

Im willing to spend between 1200$ minimum to 1600$ absolute maximum. no norincos or sams please.

in order of importance:
1st requirement: reliability (not finicky with magazines or ammo)
2nd requirement: good clear sights (clear crisp bright front sight, novak sights, no night sights)
3rd requirement: smooth light trigger for small fingers (think woman fingers)

Given you're in the LM, I'd have said get a Canadian one, it's not often you can buy a gun here that doesn't require special paper to get to the manufacturer. If however you're stuck on a 'murican one, the Dan Wessons are premium 1911's with premium parts and fitting that meet your requirements. Arms East has an RZ45 that sneaks in under the budget. Or you can buy a Colt and take it to someone that'll fix the trigger.

oh sorry, i meant usa manufacturers only because I didnt want people suggesting norincos or sams. ill correct the original post
 
Take a look at any of the sig 1911's. You get alot for the money (around 1k) as long as you don't mind the look of the external extractor. Has been very reliable through many thou rounds.
 
Find a used Colt series 70 .45. BEST of the 1911 line, a classic. ALL the fancy current model 1911's made by manufacturers looking great and fancy on the outside (cheap theatricals) but crap materials and workmanship inside WHERE IT REALLY COUNTS. I will be VERY POLITICALLY correct and not mention the manufacturer BUT a friend of mine bought a totally tricked up IPSC 1911 - problems started with front sights falling out of the dovetail (no pin used) and ending with a huge CHUNK breaking off from the rear of the slide around the extractor tunnel .... NOT IMPRESSIVE!!!!
 
What is with Dlask all the time? his stuff is mediocre at best. I have known him for over 25 yeas, and would not let him build me a custom gun. They look pretty, but never faired well in competitions.

try a Springfield Armory Range Officer or a sig match elite
 
Just dont do like me, i bought a Les Baer first and all the others i bought afterward were doom to be followers, sold them all and only kept my LB and my Coonan 1911 in 357 Mag, all bases are covered with those 2... JP.
 
My first pistol was a 1911 and I've been in love ever since. Its a Sig Sauer STX from the custom shop. Very well fit albeit kind of tight initially. Fabrication quality is really nice. Match barrel and very light crisp trigger (adjustable). It has not been picky at all with ammo. Only issue i had was a few times the slide didnt go completely into battery. That worked itself out after a couple of mags.
I haven't fired any higher end 1911s but this one suits me perfectly.
 
I have two Dlask 1911s. The Pro model is in .40 S&W. I bought this gun used and don't know it's history, but the gun is a dream. I just took delivery of a Pro Plus in .45ACP. I had it out today and shot about 80 rounds. The gun is tight and needs to be broken in for sure. Talk about a beautiful gun though. There is a Pro Plus for sale on EE for $2000, considering I just spend $2850 for mine this is a good deal. And it is Canadian and has a Maple Leaf on it. Nice until Trudeau takes all our guns away!
 
Go to Arms East web site and order a Colt.
I just ordered a Wiley Clap Government from them. Great people to deal with.
I think they have 1 Wiley Clap left in stock at a very good price. They told me that when they get more in the next shippment, the prices of these Wiley Clap Talo editions are going to increase.

What is the difference between the gold cup trophy model and the wiley clap.
I have tiny delicate fingers, trigger travel is important to be short, reset travel needs to be tiny.
