Our new Modern Varmint rifle has an official FRT number, so we can now take orders for them.
The FRT# for those few who have a need to know these things is 162446

We are working on our website currently to get the order form uploaded and live. The IT gurus are telling me they will have this live later today. The new format looks to me to be very intuitive and easy to navigate. ( I am not computerish at all so what do I know)
There will no doubt be questions, please do not hesitate to either call or email us for answers.

Anticipated delivery of 1st production run is June or July 2016. We do not have a set in stone delivery date. This is just our best projection.

At this point only 223 versions are being offered, we are looking at other options for the future.

For those new to the party, the ATRS Modern Varmint is a semi automatic rifle that is as close to an AR15 as is possible yet has the advantages to Canadian shooters of being NON RESTRICTED as well as MADE IN CANADA BY CANADIANS.

It is important to understand that these, like the Modern Hunter, are NOT AR's but share some commonality of parts. Much of the furniture for an AR is compatible, but not all butt stocks will accommodate the side charge handles guide when the rifle is being charged, hence our offering only butt stocks we know will work at a factory level. I am sure there are more than we are aware of but have the major flavors covered.

These rifle employ STANAG mags. A proprietary trigger group that cannot be changed out or altered. It is a crisp single stage trigger factory set a 3lbs. and can be configured with full ambidextrous features.

We are not selling just the uppers and lowers, only as completed and tested rifles. We will be offering additional uppers in the future.

We have had a few folks ask, "what if the government bans semi autos?"
ATRS has NO control on what the government will or will not do, through any means be it laws being changed by due process or IOC.
Our suggestion if you are concerned is to contact Ralph Gooddale the minister of Public Safety who is the newly elected dude in charge of all things firearms related.
We have asked our suppliers of everything from raw aluminum to the new CNC mill and all have no intention of refunding our money if the government changes the laws.
IF you are concerned about changes that the Lieberal government "may" make, NOW is either the time to get involved to get the government to leave the firearms culture alone or smoke enough legalized pot so that you just don't care anymore.

Seriously however, it is interesting to note that the SFSS/RCMP gave us verbal FRT approval 4 days after the election. As anyone following the Modern Hunter saga knows it took 3 years to get FRT approval under the Harper government.

Is the website all ready to place an order? Just wondering because im leaving out of town for 4 days right away and would like to get this finished!
Cheers.

It is live now, orders have been placed already so it seems to be working. I suspect small tweaks of the shopping cart will be needed as we move forward. The important part is to follow the instruction for creating an account which is there simply as a secure method of communicating your personal info, then going through the build sheet and finally checking the little box at the bottom that states you have agreed to the terms, finally the submit button and presto we have your order.

Awesome, thanks for the fast reply. Order sent.

Edit: See the order form is updated to say where to include Cerakote and furniture colors.

I'm guessing this uses a proprietary bolt and is therefore not compatible with AR-15 barrels, is that correct?

The bolt head is standard AR15, the bolt carrier is proprietary as is the barrel extension. AR15 barrels are not compatible in order to keep it from being classified as just another AR15 variant. Also with employing a proprietary barrel extension it may help prevent some nitwit from screwing us all by installing a shorter than 18.6" barrel.

But I wanted to move my 20" .450 Bushmaster barrel & bolt on this :(
I'm guessing in order to do this, I would need a custom upper receiver that accepts AR barrel extensions. The serial number is only on the lower, right? :)

Can a BAD lever or other brand equivalent fit on this rifle for the bolt release? Those are always handy little devices

You are aware that we have already integrated an ambi bolt release into the lower, which pretty much precludes any useful function a bad lever has.
In answer to the direct question however, not without significant modification.

Buffer tubes will depend on what the actual butt stock requires and what butt stock you order. The important end of a buffer tube, the threaded part is the same regardless of whether a mil spec or commercial tube is used.

We are manufacturing a VARMINT rifle, not a close range elephant gun. Somehow I doubt .450 bushmangler is considered a varmint cartridge.

So Rick, I don't mean to be a ####, but can you confirm what magazines these do function with? Just want to know how many G2 pmags I should be collecting? :p

We have ensured that Gen 3 pmags will work. Now if the great kool aid maker yet again changes their design to a Gen 4 too bad.
The rifles will be shipping with our AT15 mags.

so i am trying to build a rifle on your site, but I have a few questions. The safety, if you are a right hand shooter will it be on the left side of the rifle if your looking down the barrel so I can move it with my thumb or do I need the ambi, and is the mag release on the right side.

Ambi mag and safety should be standard not options..

With all the folks saying the price is too high adding another $200.00 to base price will really help with sales. Not everyone needs ambi so why install it as standard when it increases the price?

OR are you saying we should not try to accommodate the left hand portion of the population?
