Lets see your savage !

I've got two 110's with internal mags and the predator has a detach. Lets just say when I get out of my deer stand at night it sure sucks racking the bolt back and forth 5 times to unload the gun.

I am not a savage fan by a long shot.... But we all have personal tastes.... One thing I like like to give savage credit for is the axis....is it a high end rifle? Obviously not...... But is it an adequate hunting rifle in an adequate platform that has "decent enough" quality?.... Yep..... At its price point, I firmly believe it provides a decent platform for a new hunter with little cash.... I prefer the Ruger American packages with the redfeild scopes, but as far as economy goes, these are a best in class out of the box rifle.....

Speaking as a guy that grew up somewhat cash consticted and started with a Cooey 84, crossing guards vest and coveralls here.....

True enough. However, with the purpose I have in mind for my 112BVSS as/post #14, that's not really an issue. Loaded with a couple of rounds, good enough for the opportunities I expect to 'contend' with in the field.

I think this was from this rifle(100yrds). Keep in mind that my reloads weren't worked on, I got these decent results and never tried different powder loads to see if it can be improved on. But I finally got some nosler BTs which I do intend on experimenting with a bit more.

Well part of me wants a detachable mag but then my Army buddy said if I need more than 4+1 for hunting-pesting something is wrong with my shooting...

Even though the barrel is much thicker than many rifles it still heats up. When my buddy was shooting groups he took his time to let the barrel cool, so I guess comes down to volume or accuracy. For me I want accuracy so the mag thing is no biggy really. I have other guns with mags, more handy but no plastic tabs to break off in the mag area, and no worries if I drop my Hog Hunter as it has metal back up sights and quick detachable scope mounts.

I like your 325 interesting stock. I got a 340 in 30-30 and another in 222. 325 is next on my list as a have an original Lyman 40 peep sight which is designed for the 325.

Big ol' crack in the stock! But it seems like a handy little rifle. Looking forward to reloading for it. And it was only 2 bills.
I would of preferred a 340 in .223 or .222 but no one wants to sell em!

Bought this FV 308 years ago, when the Accutriger was a novelty, still shoot it once in a while, great shooter... JP.

Love my .223 Hog Hunter.I don't shoot past 600 yards, already have an AR so lots of ammo around plus my kids love shooting my .223s.

Looked at many rifles but when I bought my Hog Hunter it was 479.00 CDN.

I wanted metal back up sights, a threaded barrel, plastic stock.

No regrets, everyone who shoots it loves it. I did add a cheek rest and made the stock more rigid.

Some say its fugly but I don't care it's there to do a job not to just be fondled.....

With the sunshade:

Very nice rifle... how much overall did you pay with scope, pod, etc.?

479.00 CDN for the Savage, 20.00 for the used bipod, 35.00 for the Ebay sling, brake I had, 55.00 for the cheek pad, 200.00 for the Barska scope. the scope is Chinese but really works well will get a better one if needed. 30.00 for the scope cover. 30.00 for the QD mounts.

This was my budget bolt build.

Why the hell do you load 5 rounds? I load 3. Only ever used all three once in 40 years.
