Definitely NOT a 1953 Iz.
Dante, no worries - believe me, when I got the sks I had to put on my glasses and double check it as I was in disbelief because this is from a well known and respected retailer right here on CGN.

To say that I was disappointed with this rifle is an understatement because I paid a premium for 1953 Izhevsk and what I got was a mismatched Tula letter gun.
I would start by calling the dealer and go from there. Don't quite understand why you would ask members on here how to avoid paying for shipping and insurance if you have not contacted the dealer who sold it to you?????.
