Well that's a new option worth knowing about. Good price but very short on details.

Interesting that it specifically states no warranty on this item. Usually they can be convinced if things die really quickly anyway though.
If I didn't already have a Lyman I would certainly try it out.

Another buy out there is $32 for 50lb of walnut shell at Princess Auto. Just add some metal polish or buffing compound.

Well I couldn't wait. Went right out and got one.(5 minutes away) Pretty decent size. I'm tumbling right now. Chucked in about 60 or so assorted range pick up. Rifle and hand gun. So we will see. I'm using walnut and a bit of new finish. Started at 2pm. Going to check it at 4pm and again at 5pm. Right now it's running pretty quiet. I'm quite surprised.
Now on the warrant part... It says 3 year limited as long as it's not abused. So that sounds pretty good to me anyway. Imagine the hassle to send things back south of the border. I know most reloading companies have GREAT service but it's still a hassle. Just take this back to crappy as long as you keep the original sales receipt. Least at my local CT this seems to work for me anyway.

Sorry no before pics of brass. But I'll post some of the finished one tonight.

The biggest issue with dry tumbling is the buildup of lead dust in the unit which can spread around whatever environment the tumbler is located. This is why so many people have gone to wet methods.

Lead contamination is essentially impossible to avoid because it is inherent in the priming compound and thus leaves residue inside the fired case.

Yeah I knew that and I also have the FA SS rotary, but that being said I thought that this would be great to remove the case lube after resizing. 10-4?

Ah were all going to die from something. Maybe even bacon? Easy now I'm just joking. Lead's not good for sure, but I not changing my hobby. lol

That's what I mean. You never cleaned your brass before because you didn't have a tumbler right? Sure you could "order" one or make one but man, go to your local CT and pick one up and start cleaning. That's what it's all about. Sure lots here can go to your local reloading shop or gun store and get geared up and away you go. But for those of us that have to order things , this is a real privilege. I know this all too much. Big trip to Moncton yesterday. Stopped at Bass Pro, Cabellas, and Princess Auto! Life is good!

Why not go this route and save even more money? I've had one for over two years and have yet to have in issue! Works perfect!

I agree with this. Frankford Arsenal also has a clear lid so you can see what's going on. They make an excellent wet tumbler also...

I know I know, but I never really went that route. Same with e-bay and pay pal. All the e-commerce stuff seems to scare this old fella. I still do all my banking at the bank. What can I say. Old dog no new tricks. lol
I seen that tumbler in the flyer- newspaper flier.

And don't even get me started on computers! lol

Betcha things haven't been the same since they built that dangfangled bridge, eh?

Also instead of buying your media to clean the brass at your local gun store, you can also go buy walnut media at a pet store, huge bags for far less than what you'd pay at the gun store, same stuff. They use it for reptile bedding.

Did I ever tell you that I live on PEI? I tried to find that stuff in Summerside. No can do. Reptile bedding is that stuff in the bathroom??? That's right things aren't the same since the ConFed Bridge, a lot better. I use to drive truck. Anyway back to the pet store stuff. Did a look around town and picked up some "Walnut Based Litter" Read this afternoon on TFL that you're not suppose to use that stuff. But I had already had it in and running. Use what I had. I'll see if our local welding-sandblasting place has some walnut media next week.

Well I not here to praise up dry tumbling since I have a SS tumbler but I just thought it was great to see this thing at CT. Now if I can get some proper media and give it another try. But the tumbler worked fine. The best I can see anyway. Like I said nice and quiet and stayed in the same spot on my shop bench. (I didn't use it in the house) Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Oh well this is not about the brass but about the CT tumbler.

Here's a couple of shots. The brass turned out nice and clean but not shiny. I would like to have some of that corn cob media for polishing. I'm going to try another batch tonight using Autosol polish.

Aw jeez! Now I'm going to have to go to Regina, stop at Canada Tire, Princess Auto, Wholesale Sports, Cabela's, Peavey Mart. :p

Peavey has those nice PLANO ammo boxes on at two for one $14.95ish.

I have an old Thumbler's Tumbler that I got as a Christmas present many years ago. Works great, quiet.

Your brass would be shiny if it wasn't that dusty :)
Get treated corn cob and add a few used dryer sheets cut in 4. They'll collect some of the dust.

Oh man! I forgot about the dryer sheets. Thanks legi0n. Just threw some in. The Autosol seems to be working better. One more hour or so.

Film at 11. lol

I notice that this CTC tumbler has a rubber gasket around the lid which should help to keep dust sealed in.

I kept an eye out here on equipment exchange, and bought a barely used RCBS tumbler for $50. $10 for some Cabela's media, and works great. Re: dust etc., I now pull the lid off it, put an old handtowel over and let it run. Keeps all the dust contained. Also put an old mechanical timer (block heater timer, whatever) and set it for 2-3 hours, leave it to run. You can use a spaghetti scoop to pull the brass out, they have fingers that basically allow all the media to vibrate out as you scoop 'em. I mostly do rifle, so don't need a larger media separator (only do 100 or so cases at a time).

Have tried both the Cabela's polishing compound (paste) and Brasso, both seem to work well if you put a bit in the mix.
