I went and got the mail today and this beautiful Russian princess was waiting for me. It is a 1941 Tula. Now, if only my order from Corwin would come in.

Love the wood coloring.

Merry Christmas everyone. Would love to see any "gifts" you got for yourself.

I have the weaver rail mount and a VOMZ PILAD 4 power with illuminated German post coming from them. I figure the mount would be the way to go for mounting a scope. If I feel like using opens, it is just a quick removal and I'm ready to rock.

Now you will learn to appreciate the genius of Fedor Vasilievich, although it might have been something of a mad genius.

And when you watch that scene at the end of the movie, where the kid is blasting the picture on the ground, you will ask yourself "How the heck can they be having a conversation at this point? Neither of them will hear anything again for a week/ever."

Is that a repair at the wrist? Or a reinforcement.

Nice picatinany mount, it's rock solid. I have one for for each of my svt's, watch the eject path of the spent shells. I had to mount a shell deflector on one, spent casings were hitting the scope. It's gas setting is at 1.5 and it ejects casings pretty hard unlike my other which operates at a lower gas setting.

Tapco sks deflector, I had to make a triangular shaped spacer from some bar stock to go between the deflector and the body of the mount to account for the angle of the mount.

I drilled and tapped through the spacer and the body of the mount. If you line up the screws with the window of the mount the screws clear the profile of the dust cover if they sit proud of the inside of the mount body. I put a piece of Velcro on the top of the deflector as well, should work well and I like the look of it. Haven't found time to sight it in since I rigged up the deflector.

Interesting. The goal being to keep the brass off the scope. Makes sense.

The 2-hit brass path on the SVT is strange to me.

If I may ask, what is the eye relief on that scope?

The Barska I mounted claims 75mm, but I have to stay at the far end of it to avoid a whack on the skull.

The one you have mounted looks to stick back about 25mm further than what I use.

Not to hijack this thread (any more than I already have), but do you find the geometry you have is close to whacking you on the noggin each time? Or do you have room to spare?

The eye relief is 85mm, or so stated by the manufacturer. It's perfect for me as I've got it set up, I get full field of view with lots of clearance. I spent a day behind it prior to rigging up the deflector, no risk of taking it in the face. Lots of room to spare and I am in a very comfortable position while aiming.
