I was going to say "cod", for the Canadian Content, but you beat me to the draw.
For the record, and if anybody cares, I started this thread because I'm a fan of Glocks who was tired of the automatic scorn they receive whenever they're mentioned. I was once in that camp myself, but using one converted me pretty quickly. And I know SEALs are supposed to be Type A control freaks but I seriously doubt they get too worried when someone types 'Seals' or that they care at all about what us paper punchers have to say about their choice of sidearms. The thing for me is that they are highly professional users that have the choice of any sidearm in the world and have officially chosen the Glock 19. The fit of which can BTW be changed with the included adjustable back straps.
Given that I have interacted with SEALs online recently about a number of topics, including this one, I can say that you are right about whether they care what civilians anywhere think of their choice of handgun, but you are wrong about the "seal" thing. I won't mention the forum again, in case I upset sigboy, but if you go over there and try it, you will get corrected pretty quickly, and if you persist, you will get the SEAL equivalent of CGN "pink". If you think I'm being a #### about it, I could care less, try it for yourself.

Btw MWL, thanks for your take on a summary of the two guns, exactly the sort of thing I was hoping to see from members. You listed a few new ideas (to me) that I found interesting as well; one being the lefties thing and how that relates unknowingly to righties who may need to shoot lefty sometimes. The perhaps marked awkwardness of the 226 in a left hand (again could still be personal preference) once set up against statistics, could very well prove to be useful enough to weigh in and earn a few bonus points for the Glocks. Thank you.

The Glock 19 selected was a gen 3 not a gen 4, so no it can't be adjusted. Nor does it need to be.

OK but I saw them illustrated online with the 'usual' three Gen 4 straps and since it is a bit of a small gun I would think some, including me, would want them as options. Is Glock going to restrict manufacture to Gen 3s only then?
I couldn't tell you. All I know is that NSW and others have selected the gen3 for service.

Theres no issues with left handed people and Sigs. I actually think lefties have an advantage over righties.
Your left hand must be different to my left hand then, because as a lefty, I had to shift my grip considerably in order to use the controls that my right thumb could use without shifting my grip at all. That was also the consensus of other people who did the same at the time we ran the MK25.
The same applies somewhat with the Glocks, but that is easily fixed for a lefty with an extended slide stop lever, and the standard magazine release, which works better for left handed shooters in my experience.

Us your support hand for the decocker and to rack the slide.
I couldnt tell you how many times right handed guys accidentally ride the slide catch so the slide doesnt lock back. Or when trying to get as high as a grip as possible, guys are actually pushing the slide catch up while shooting and locking the slide back while theres still ammo in the mag.
Yes, that was what I did when using the gun with both hands, and would be the method most applicable to civilian users on the range. I was refering to occasions where the user was forced to use the gun one handed, either as a natural left handed shooter that had a right hand/arm injury, or was carrying/dragging something/someone else with the right hand; or a right handed shooter forced to do the same.
That, would only really be applicable in a combat situation, or if the user was performing a scenario during training or competition of some kind. As this was a thread on the SEALs choice of handgun, and as the majority of my customers use their guns for more than plinking at the range, it was something that we tested when looking at the guns.
Attempting to drop the slide stop using the proximal pad of your left index finger can be quite challenging with both pistols, but the addition of an extended slide stop lever on the Glock makes it pretty easy with a little practice, not so much with the SIG. The decocker is a little easier, but still requires shifting your grip somewhat, depending on your hand size/shape.
